When someone asks me about my memorable class experiences, I find it really hard to identify which one to mention as there have been numerous such class experiences which I’ll cherish throughout my life. From the start of my MBA journey at IIM Indore to the end of the amazing first year, I always had a feeling of gratification to be a student of some of the best faculties across the country. I would like to share one of the most recent class experiences which I had in the last class of Human Resource Management. To give a brief background about what makes it special, it’s the kind of effort that our faculty for the course, Dr. Kamal K Jain used to make for each of the classes he conducted. First of all, looking at him I always used to think which 70’s hero he resembles, but was never able to figure it out. Secondly, the way he used to relate the case to be discussed in the class with some old Hindi song, and starting the class playing that song, made me fall in love with his way of teaching even more (as I am quite fond of listening old hindi songs). Talking about the last class, he did a quick recap of all the concepts that we had learned throughout the course. I was quite keen to see how someone who has maintained students’ interest throughout his course is going to bring an end to it. And there it comes, suddenly he plays a song.. “Bhula dena mujhe, hai alvida tujhe, tujhe jeena hai, mere bina.. Hai ye safar tera, ye rasta tera, tujhe jeena hai, mere bina..” And the entire class was just quiet, completely quiet. Maybe, each of the student turned quite emotional at that time, as was I. And then came another surprise element for all of us. He presented on screen, pictures of all the students of the class arranged within the abbreviation HRM. That filled me with much more respect for him since there are very few faculties that make such amount of effort to bid a nice farewell to their students. At this point, I just wish that, before leaving IIM Indore, I get another chance to be his student, once again.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

Working for such a big Indian multinational conglomerate is a dream in itself but given a chance to decide which company to work in, I would definitely want to be in the retail sector, which is Aditya Birla Retail Limited as this is a kind of business one could connect to very well. Also, the range of businesses within the sector including, FMCG products, fruits, vegetables, groceries, frozen food, bakery, homecare, personal care, pharmacy, general merchandise, apparel and footwear, all offer something which can never go out of demand, since these are a part of the daily life of an individual and hence easy to connect to.
