So, we had these team building sessions, group activities and oral communication sessions in the first two weeks of the course. I would like to share my experience about what effect these sessions had on me and what things will I try and implement and hat I learned in just two weeks of classes.
First of all, if anybody ever stops or stammers in between the presentation, as being a fresher most of us were giving presentations for the very first time in our life and few people have stage fright, the students and instructors never pressurized or made anybody feel less, all of them were very encouraging and supporting, in fact they asked us to relax and think and said that there is nothing to be afraid of, take your time and then asked us to present it again. It really boosted the confidence and motivated me towards trying every new thing here and putting myself in challenging position every day, stepping out of my comfort zone. Due to this learning, it has opened all new gates for me, I am always ready for everything, be it presentation, role-playing or group activities. Of course, there still is that initial hesitation but it is dominated by the enthusiasm that I have developed for learning and moving on.
We had breakthrough group activities, design thinking sessions in the first week which included various games and activities that taught us very important qualities such as teamwork, integrity, sharing your knowledge and a lot more. These activities were enjoyable as well as taught us so many things. So, the culture, the pattern of teaching here at IIM Udaipur is what fascinated me the most. It is the best way a person can learn, analysing daily, going through ups and downs daily, preparing you for the corporate life you will be entering in two years, it makes it so easy to find one’s own abilities, what is it that they need to work on and how to work on that. In short, it provides you a very nurturing environment, where you can work upon yourself and gain knowledge that is going to stay with you for all your life.
Which ABG company I would like to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited in the fashion and retail sector. Being a fashion enthusiast, I have been the customer for a very long time and I have always wanted to enter to the other side of the table. It would be really very nice to get insights on what happens on the other side and as I have already been a consumer, I would be able to connect more to this sector and perform the role with a very nice understanding of the consumer mind.
