“Forget all the reasons why it won't work and believe the one reason why it will !!”
~ Ziad K. Abdelnour
With CAT 2020 just around the corner, it's important now to focus on your ultimate strategy. This is not the time to experiment or to be overwhelmed by the grandeur of the D-day. It's also not the time to get complacent and to stop preparing. That one last question you practice could be the deciding factor for getting into your dream college.
CAT is like a battlefield with three separate stages, testing you on your knowledge, speed, decision making, and time management skills. Therefore, conquering every section requires its own specifically designed strategy. After multiple rectifications, you might have devised your own blueprint for attempting the sections by now. It's time to religiously go through those handy notes, cheat sheets, and formulae.
VARC
For the VARC section, you must be very well aware of the type of passages you're confident with by now. Therefore initially, the focus should be to capture all those easy points, maintaining a good speed, and leaving behind an ample amount of time to tackle your weaknesses with a clear mind. It's best to revise what you know, rather than cramming new information during these last days.
DILR
The key to ace the DILR section is time management and solving more number of sets. For a time-bound practice, sectional tests can be a great approach during the last few days. The selection of sets is crucial here for managing time. Avoid spending too much time on a challenging set. It's important to understand when to move on to the next question without getting stuck. If you have some time left towards the end, try attempting the DI sets as these contain individual questions and are not time-consuming.
QA
Being thorough with concepts and formulas is the key ingredient to master the QA section. With only a few days left, revising the concepts and going through the previous mock test learnings is a better approach. Accuracy plays a crucial role and is the deciding factor for cracking the QA section. The goal should be to maximize the attempts in this section while balancing accuracy.
Focussing on your own strengths and being mindful of your weaknesses, this one last step should be taken with a confident and positive mindset. There is no scope for bringing in nervousness as this is both a test of your mind and body. The mammoth task of preparation is over, and now is the time to rejoice in the results of those efforts. Bringing in all the consolidated learnings from those endless mock tests and analyses, it's time to put your best foot forward.
Remember, it's equally essential to stay safe and maintain your physical and mental health. Ensure a good night's sleep, be well prepared with all the formalities, and keep a sufficient amount of buffer time to reach the exam center on the D-day.
All the best! May the force be with you!
