The campus of IIM Indore, popularly known as planet@I, is one of the best things I have come across in my life. The distinctiveness according to its location, landscape, area and everything is something that all the members of planet@I take pride in. In fact, every resident of the whole city are gratified about how frequently we make it to the list of most beautiful campuses in India (keeping in mind that the town also have an IIT at the outskirts!:P) It’s a huge 196 acres campus, so there’s always something new to find and explore. Situated in Rau, it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the city, while that’s inconvenient at times, it makes for amazing night skies and star gazing, thereby releasing your stresses and frustrations from daily hectic agenda. Built over a hill, it is often called as “the hillock that doesn’t sleep” and after spending one year here, I can vouch for that. A night tour of the campus in monsoons is a mixture of feelings of romanticism and fear of snakebites! Yes, you can indeed call it a bio-diversified campus with close to 50 bird species, 7 snake species, a family of foxes, hares, rabbits, mongoose, cats, bats, and many – many – many species of lizards, chameleons, crabs, butterflies, spiders, flies, moths, and other insects! If you are lucky enough, you can come across our national bird here, although you don’t have to be that lucky to encounter two of the big four venomous varieties of snakes!!! All these have been very exciting for me, as I remember during my initial days here I used to get excited even by seeing a duck; but now, after experiencing all these, I’m like ‘what the duck’! IIM Indore Campus Life is an opportunity for making new friends, doing meaningful conversations with friends, the people you meet, the connections and bonds you make, you’ll cherish them for a long time if not forever. It’s a cliché perhaps, but living with your friends (mind you, the best minds of the country!) on a campus, creates a bond that you really can’t measure or quantify. Another one of the unique features of IIM Indore is the Saturday movie screening. Every new movie release is screened in the auditorium for the community, which works as a stress buster from the busy schedule and also saves a portion of our pocket money!
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
Working in any one of the ABG company is a privilege and dream come true for any MBA grad of this country. Still, if I have to choose one, I will go for Hindalco. I will love to be a part of the world’s largest aluminium and copper rolling company, as I have been attracted to this industry since my engineering days. Being from Electrical Engineering background I am sure that I can bring in a valuable contribution to the company and also get to learn hands-on knowledge about the challenging industry.
