You must have heard about Ivanka Trump, Clint Eastwood, Tiger Woods, or our very own Indian counterparts Chetan Bhagat, John Abraham, and Randeep Hooda. Do you know what is common between all of them? All of them have an MBA or business degree! Yes, an MBA is not always about landing that perfect BCG or Goldman Sachs job. Today, we have Sarthak Dasgupta, an award-winning filmmaker who in the 90s did his MBA in Finance from SIBM Pune. Sarthak followed his heart and pursued his dream to become a filmmaker, without any formal training in filmmaking. Let’s explore his story in today’s episode of Konversations in Quarantine.
Immediately after completing his MBA in Finance from SIBM Pune, Sarthak came back to Mumbai and joined SEBI, a true blue government financial institution. Sarthak tells interesting stories about SEBI at that time and how he dreamt about the films that he used to watch with his FTII friends on the monitor kept in front of him with financial reports on them. With music director Pritam, Sarthak had his initial conversations around films and music going in Pune during his college days and that is how he got hooked to the creative side of things.
This is part 1 of the conversation. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this conversation. Tell us in the comments section below about your thoughts on Sarthak’s journey and the most creative thing you have done so far in your life.
