The X Factor Of XIMB

Amidst the 2 years of assignments, committees, internships and case studies, life’s what happens at XIMB. Before joining the college, just like any other puzzled mortal, I was nervous about the hectic schedule, the mess food and most importantly - the weather. Bhubaneswar, the city known for its tranquillity and temples, definitely witnesses a gruelling weather.

But once you enter the gates of this prestigious institution, you feel captivated. I still remember telling my parents that I can’t see the buildings behind so many trees. From the fitness sessions to stimulating group activities and tasks to peer-interaction, it’s all an inseparable part of this campus life. In just two weeks, this campus makes me feel at home.

The open culture of interaction with seniors as well and performance driven atmosphere will make you want to step out of your comfort zone.  One man practising sportsmanship is far better than 50 preaching it. The “Basketball Fever” here, witnessed all the students down on the field until midnight, playing and cheering their favourite teams. It epitomizes team bonding, charting unfamiliar terrains and skill enhancement. There are numerous stories associated with this court, which makes it the most fascinating place on campus.

When in XIMB, through the use of letter “X” at the beginning or end, every regular word is x-emplified. Be it the infamous X-walk or the beloved X-café. When talking about places and culture, we can’t miss out the Just Like That Wall. Intriguing and vibrant, it serves as the spot for parties, the graffiti on the walls representing the camaraderie between the students with various things that every XIMBian encounters in his /her typical day. Also, there is - ‘Two & a Bud’, a quick fix for everybody’s brunch started by XIMB’s very own alumni and ‘Jitu Dukaan: XIMB’s very own BigBazaar’, morphing the concept of ‘everything under one roof’

These little quirks not only make our life easier amongst the academic rigour and stress but also necessarily add meaning to the life of each and every student by being either their stress-busters or cherished hideouts.

Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?

If I get an opportunity to work in the Aditya Birla Group, and I was asked to site my preference, I would want to work in ‘Aditya Birla Retail Limited’. ABRL, the fourth largest supermarket chain in the country would align with my own vision. In the globalised and post-liberalised world we live in, FMCG is the fastest growing and most dynamic sector with excessive competition in terms of price and promotional strategies. I have a keen interest in marketing and would like to develop strategic solutions and provide value-addition for the company.
