All of us encounter instances in our lives that transform us into a person that we would never have imagined ourselves to be. I feel that it is always in our hands to make the best out of any situation that we are posed with. Taking the account of such incidents in my life, I would like to begin by telling about my school days. Back in school, I was this very outgoing person who never lacked spontaneity when it came to initiating conversations with others around me. This made it very easy for me to build bonds and come out as a very likeable person among all my other mates. This gave me a lot of opportunities to engage in various activities, each involving a different group. With this support, I also made it into the council which proved to be instrumental in helping me leave an impact on the various activities of the school.

I always enjoyed being popular among everyone including the teachers who recognized me by my name. I left no chance in participating in the events organized including fests and annual days. However, after school, I was initially very disappointed with the college I was admitted into. This led to a feeling of acute resentment within me which made me isolate myself from all the activities in college. I stopped aspiring to do more than what was expected of me and stuck myself within limits that were drawn. I failed to show any inclination in trying to become a part of the college other than attending classes and keeping up with my academics. The activities never seemed to interest me as I felt they were highly monotonous. This version of me felt completely new and I could not draw any parallel with how I used to be.

However, with time, owing to my inherent nature, I eventually started getting involved and also realized the need to accustom ourselves to the situation we are surrounded with. This started a new phase for me during my college tenure. I started developing friendships and came out as the sociable person I always was. With time, things started to settle in and consequently, it instilled the feeling of belongingness in me. This then pushed me into taking up all the opportunities that came my way and also to bag some others going out of the way. This gave me a tide of great confidence as I was able to get back to feeling how I thought I always was. After college, I decided to pursue a management degree as I thought it would help me gloom better and trigger me to bring the best out of me.

IIM Shillong has proven to be the best opportunity I could ever think I merit. This place kindles great zeal and enthusiasm in me to add more value to myself both in the personal and professional fronts. I strongly believe that this place would help me in the best possible way to bring to light all my inherent skills and would also pave the path for me to inculcate what I lack. These have been the moments in my life that have played a very crucial role in shaping me and have also helped me understand more about myself in every stage of my life up until now.
