What's Happening Around The World : August 24 - August 30

Quoting a rather farcical and an exaggerated expression of opinion by Will Rogers, “I read about eight newspapers in a day. When I'm in a town with only one newspaper, I read it eight times.”, the aim is to sensitize the readers with the importance that people have given in the past to the habit of making friends with newspapers.

Know Your Story To Know Your Specialisation In MBA

Know Your Story To Know Your Specialisation In MBA

There was a three-month lull prior to joining MBA. Serving the notice period in my organisation, there was a constant tussle in my mind about what my future career as a manager holds for me. I was speaking to many people every day and trying to understand what will be a good specialisation for me to pursue. DON'T DO THAT. After three months into the blur called MBA, I realised that no one could have told me to pick a specialisation; and that is the essence of my article. One has to understand for themselves what their calling is and decide accordingly on their specialisation. In order to take the first step in the right direction, you really have to know yourself, understand your behaviour and the circumstances in your life that have shaped that behaviour. This is a call to all the engineers/non-financial background MBA candidates who are unsure of what to study. Speaking about myself, I was inclined towards finance because it sounded like "the thing to do". I was running everywhere reading up about Finance and the roles offered, trying to gather certifications among other things, that novice finance enthusiasts do.

From Neanderthal To An Evolved Social Media Superhuman - MICA

How and why did we become the dominant species? We aren't the fastest or the sharpest species on Earth. The answer lies in our instinct to socialize, interact and grow. The reason why we love Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and the likes is because they give us an addictive window to do just that - stay in touch constantly. It's as enjoyable as smoking! But what does this behaviour mean for you as a marketeer? It means that you can use this pre-existing condition constructively to make an impact while also marketing your brand. Watch this video where Prof Siddharth Deshmukh, a MICA professor, explains how by understanding this you can create a positive impact in the life of the consumer. While he constantly scrolls down on his feed, give him something that makes him pause, learn and evolve.
