Amidst the green hills of Shillong, and surrounded by the misty mountains of Meghalaya, IIM Shillong, or as we call it, our campus in clouds, is a sight to behold. With a rich heritage of having served as the summer palace of a previous ruling dynasty, the campus really is fit for kings to live in. Structures such as the grand wooden pillars, and our quaint little glass-house, seem to be plucked right out of a painting. An array of coniferous pine trees lines the main pathways and stand tall in the rolling grounds. Set this against the backdrop of a sun with richest hues of red setting amongst purple hills, and you have many a photographers’ dreams come true.

It was a chilly winter morning in Shillong when we just entered into our third term.  It felt literally like a pain but getting off the bed to meet new visiting faculty for course of my interest, business law, was worth it. Just a day before the session I read about the Professor Dr. Kalyan Kankanala over the internet. He seemed like knowledge worthy intellectual and very well experienced professional having obtained Doctorate Degree in Patent Law from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and being Chief IP Attorney of an IP firm that he founded named as BananaIP Counsels. It was a 10:45 a.m. session and we were having our breakfast sitting out in sunlight and we spotted the professor walking swiftly towards classroom and the excitement grew further.
