Amidst the abode of clouds in the picturesque small town of Shillong, The Indian Institute of Management Shillong. What better place to spend 2 of the most crucial years of any Students life. The mood inside the campus cannot be more conducive enough for learning. Waking up in the pleasant weather of Shillong serves an excellent motivation to kick start the day. The campus is a good mix of the old meets new. Located in Mayurbhanj palace, part of the campus still functions from the original palace premises while the other half consist of modern day classrooms.
Right at the beginning of our course in the first year, the importance on Sustainability is imbibed amongst us as we celebrate a Sustainability week, through a series of lectures and activities promoting sustainable living and its relevance across different verticals of the corporate world. The Focus on Industrial connects with round the year podium sessions, as well as business conclaves, provide an ideal platform for us to interact with Industry personnel.
Being a national institute in the Northeast of the country, the institute does its part in contributing to the welfare of the Community. Being a part of the Entrepreneurship Cell iCube, I have had the honor of being on the core team of “EmergE” the flagship entrepreneurship event of the institute. We played host to several prominent startup founders across the northeast and the country and held a series of Expert talks and Panel discussion over a 2day weekend. The primary intent is to bring a common platform for the entrepreneurs of the Northeast and India to discuss several pertaining issues that startups in the region face and inspire the students with their life journey. Managing the event, interacting stage with eminent start-up founders and gaining insights from their journey has been a tremendous experience.
Over the course of my first year, I have had a growing interest in the way the retail industry works. With interest in the marketing field, working in the retail industry is an ideal. The one ABG group company, I would like to work for is the Aditya Birla Retail Limited. ABG group is a pioneer in the sector, and their won't is a better platform for me to hone my skills and gain industry experience in the retail industry than the retail segment of ABG group. The opportunities would be across diverse sectors, and the level of work will be amongst the best in the industry and hence provide a perfect platform to start my corporate career.
