FMS is truly the Red Building of Dreams. We may be small in area and number, but this is what binds us all together. Be it the professors, the alumni, the non-teaching staff and obviously the students; all are bonded by a special bond. Add to that the tag of being the oldest B-School in India and also being called the Marketing Campus of India.
But, for all of us at FMS, it is about living the experience, strengthening the originality which is unique to FMS.
The uniqueness of FMS has been best described by one of our alumni. He described Life at FMS as "Going out into the world with minimum damage to the zest for life".

FMS is a great college. It is a part of Delhi University, which is one of the best in the country. We are a small campus, which works in our favour. We see each other all the time we are in campus and it helps us to know each other very well and share our experiences. Our interaction with our seniors is so much more because of the small size. FMS prepares us to make maximum utilisation of the resources and to adapt to the situations and the surroundings. We have access to all sorts of facilities which includes world class swimming pool, gym, cricket and football ground. Our classes are regularly arranged in centers like conference center, main auditorium at Patel chest. We are surrounded by other top DU colleges like Kirori Mal, St. Stephen, Hindu and SRCC. Most of the students live within 1km of the campus and are often seen enjoying and interacting with other college students as well. Even the canteen is small, which again is a blessing in disguise as it brings the batchmates and their seniors closer. We often eat together and have fun. The classrooms are nice with proper air conditioning, projector and speakers. All students easily form a bonding with the college. Even our professors have been with the college for 15 years. We have a basketball court and we also use it to play badminton. We have a small air-conditioned library with lot of books and thesis. We frequently have guest lectures in the seminar hall where each and every alumni of FMS praise the campus and tells how there is something special about it and how much they feel attached to the college. The campus creates a bonding with its students and is truly The Red Building of Dreams.

The unique thing about my campus is that it big and small at the same time. Being a part of University of Delhi we get access to the enormous campus infrastructure. The sports facility in each of the college is available to the students. Generally, B-schools are residential to reduce the time overhead in travel for the students. But this gives us more exposure. Being in a hostel will make us feel like cocooned by the comforts. The food security and comfort are assured. Living by ourselves we manage to co-ordinate and find means to work together on our cases and competitions. This whole process is initially difficult to cope up with. But this gives us a lot of confidence and a sense of self-reliance which I think is absent in most residential B-schools. The campus also gives us access to the rich faculty from different colleges. With Delhi School of Economics and Institute of Economic Growth right next to our campus there is a lot of resource for our research. When it comes to research we can also afford to pick subjects related to other disciplines. For example, If I am interested in computational finance, I can easily get help from the faculty of Mathematics to help me on advanced forecasting techniques. The culture at FMS is something that cannot be found in any other B-school because we are taught to be responsible from day one. Students are actively involved in many of the administrative activities which is a whole new experience. Apart from all these material differences, our alumni have left behind an incomparable legacy that we will carry forward with us.

FMS has a campus that is mainly run by the students. The second year students mentor and teach students from the first year to help prepare for the summer placements. And then the first year student will also help the second years during their placements. All this greatly increases the bonding and camaraderie between the students. The relatively small batch size also helps in this regard. During the two years that a student spends studying at FMS, they get closely acquainted with about 600 other students, 200 in their own batch, 200 from the senior batch and 200 from the junior batch.

Our unique ‘campus’ differentiates us from other B-schools. FMS being a part of the Delhi University, the students get access to the DU campus which is our in-house campus. Most of the students stay in PGs, flats and DU hostels in and around the college. Thus, FMS not only teaches one to manage their academics but also their personal life. Staying in flats and PGs and battling each minute issue at home has taught us a great deal already. We often take pride in this distinct feature as we gradually learn to optimize the limited resources, a teaching which can only be experienced. Owing to this, FMS prepares us for the upcoming tides of struggle and enthralls within us the attitude of never giving up.

There are thousands of B-schools in India but none of them offers a full-time MBA program at the cost that Faculty of Management Studies does. The red building of dreams as the college building is popularly referred as, is a small building where dreams actually do come true. A batch of 220 students who come from various parts of the country call this college their second home. Though the campus is small in size the opportunities here are unlimited, from godlike teachers to wonderful seniors, everyone is willing to share their experiences and learnings in order to make things simple for the new incoming batch. Being a part of Delhi University also provides the college with an unlimited amount of resources ranging from stadiums to the library.
