IIM Raipur: Creating Socially Responsible Managers
The uniqueness of my campus is the diversity in the campus. In due course of few days, the most awestruck thing I found is standard deviation of diversity this place has.

Life at my is fun and engaging and every day you get to learn something new.MBA is all about effective time management, making peer to peer connections and developing your personality by making the best of opportunities at hands and we get ample opportunities like this at IIM Raipur. It’s because of the campus and environment of IIM Raipur which has held us all so closely knitted to each other. It becomes your second home and family. It is so easy to interact with seniors here who help us in our every endeavor like mentors. We also have a closely tied alumni circles which also help us in career networking.
It’s been only a few days here at MDI but there is a sense of belongingness. I waited a long time to be here and was very excited and also very nervous as I have never been a part of hostel life. A usual day is filled with classes, assignments, projects with strict deadlines which sometimes get to your nerves and you feel lost. But the fellow students and seniors are so supportive and warm they pull you out of that frustrating phase and guide you in the right direction. It’s not only about studies here at MDI one gets ample opportunities regularly to showcase your other talents be it the creative aspects, sports or other extra-curricular activities. One of the highlighting experience of my stay here at MDI till date is the sports event KOK (King of Kings). It brought the whole of the batch together and provided the opportunity to interact and bond with each other. I also got the opportunity to be a part of the organizing committee for cricket. Team management, team building, scheduling, planning are some of the key learnings from the event and also not to mention the social connect with other batch mates.
A memorable incident in classroom: I would like to talk about an experience in the classroom which I felt very infatuated with. It was the class of “Human Behavior in Organizations” and the faculty had made us fill up a personality check questionnaire in the previous class. There were two totally opposite traits and a student would fit in either of the two based on his/her response.
Being an engineer the life is much different from what it was in IIT. Life at MDI is very fast moving. The first week is Induction week in which we get a lot of exposure from various industry people about their business. It was a time where we get only 3 to 4 hours of sleep which was a different experience for me.
Through sleepless nights and exhausting interviews, there I was at the entrance gate of MDI on the 14th of June. The last six months had been tiresome but the result was all that mattered. I was walking into one of the premier b-schools in the country. Sweating in the scorching summer heat of Gurgaon, I was one of the many who chose to explore the campus at that moment. Surrounded by well-trimmed greenery, the buildings on the campus stood tall and red. The chirping of birds and the sound of hushed conversations of seniors were the only voices you could hear. Hostels looked lively. I was looking forward to the next 2 years of my life here.
Having multiple new IIMs calls, researching on every one of them, writing down pros & cons, discussing with family and friends. Choosing a college is a long process for sure. And I chose IIM Raipur over all the other new IIMs call I had. But that feeling when you finally face it becoming reality is amazing.
One of the most exciting events that marked the beginning of my B-school in MDI was KOK: inter-section sports tournament. The event was flagged off by the much-awaited marathon, ‘Mandevian Miles’. All the first-year students actively participated in the high spirited marathon to run for a cause and to earn points for their respective teams. This was followed by a week-long sports championship involving a fair mix of indoor and outdoor games.
