The journey of my MBA started back in 2017 when I used to work alone in my office cubicle at midnight to meet the project deadline. That was the time when I realized what if I could put all my efforts for a better career aspiration where I could take more responsibilities and new challenges every day. I started my preparation around mid of July and I opted for both CAT and IIFT exam in the month of November. There was always a separate place for IIFT in my mind. As I had more than two years of work experience, I had a clear understanding of why I am doing MBA. Being in night shift was quite bliss for me as I was able to utilize the time for my preparation.

The Beginning Of A New Journey At IIFT Kolkata

This is the first time that I have stepped out of my birth city, Jaipur. The City of Joy, Kolkata welcomed me with some humidity and rain, which provided some much-needed respite from all the heat. After arriving at the campus, the first thing that caught my sight was the lovely pond in between the campus, with fishes swimming in it. The campus looked beautiful, Serene and I felt happy that it would be my home for the next two years.

It’s just been 20 days coming into IIM Raipur, even though the admissions are still going on, it feels like months. I have started to meet people from all over the country. Given we are still in a temporary campus, it’s a much-closed environment that gives us a lot of chance to interact with a lot of people, be it seniors or juniors. The pool of students here is so diverse, there is ample opportunity to know about different things, views, and stories.

The Unique Campus - Meet Shah, IIM Udaipur

When I first left my house to come to IIM Udaipur, I could not find the road which led to the campus from the main Balicha highway. I knew that our campus was new and was still under construction. Finally, after making 2 rounds around the divider, on the highway, my parents and I found a small cut where a tiny board was signalling us the direction to IIM Udaipur. It was a steep road which was not yet fully constructed. So we started climbing the road with an expectation to see something satisfactory on the other side of the road. As the steepness of the road ended, the view suddenly changed. I could see a big building which was under construction. At first, I had to get rid of all my huge dreams of living in one of the largest IIMs, as it was still under construction. When we entered the main gate, we were guided to take right and climb another steep road. As we drove further, my eyes got more and more widened. It was a curvy road, but on the right side of it was a long range of mountains. I had just entered a Hill station! When the turn got complete I could see four buildings standing as the pillar and made up of mountain rocks. I was so much delighted when I got to know that this was the hostel areas and this was where I was going to live for the next two years. After completing the registration process my family and I reached my room. We first opened my room’s windows and “What a view!” My cousins were so happy that I got admission here because they thought of joining me anytime they want in the next two years and enjoy their time in this wonderful nature land.

It has been only a matter of 20 days, and we are immersed in the culture of IIM Udaipur. The campus is spread over an area of 300 acres. The clusters are comfortable, and the rooms are fitted with Air Conditioners and amenities on the floors like Washing Machine, Water Purifier, Induction Cooker, and Microwave Oven. The whole campus is built in the serenity of the mountains. The smart bicycles are available which can be used by paying a very nominal fare and be used for travelling short distances. There are additional facilities available such as Gym, Football Ground, Volleyball Court, TT Room, Music Room. Bloomberg lab is a new concept, and there are few designated computers available in this lab. There is a night house canteen which serves various yummy food and is operational till midnight. The scenic beauty in the morning is just fabulous. The library has a decent collection of books, and it has a whole lot of journals which are excellent ones.

Retracing the steps back to the initial lessons of physics, which spoke about motion, they also spoke about how different the positions of motion and rest were. I remember my teacher concluding the class by saying that since the earth constantly moves around the sun, we are never at rest in reality.
