What Makes My Campus Unique? - Sibbula Rohith Kumar, XIMB
17th June 2018 was when I left my home for the first time to pursue education. But back then I didn't know that I was heading towards a place which would make me feel more than at home. Reached Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar with mixed emotions. An emotion with full of excitement. Other doubtful emotion which was asking me if I made the right decision or should have stayed back at home happily with mom and dad. Well, it was a very tough decision for me. As humans are always greedy for something more, even I was. But then realized where ever you go, It all depends on ‘You'. Went through LinkedIn and was amazed by the kind of alumni XIMB has. There were people in almost every top management positions. Felt very happy to get a change of being a part of the same college as them. That broke the mental barrier which I had and decided I was going.

Xavier School of Management, Bhubaneswar is not just any campus, it’s a learning temple for 800 people from diverse background in different courses like Business Management, Global program, Executive MBA. For me this institute was beyond my imagination, the culture, the welcoming experience and most importantly the campus facilities provided here.

The first thing which comes in anyone’s mind with the Institute “IIM” is its rigorous academic excellence but IIM-I with its academic rigour also processes a beautiful lush green with state of art sports facilities which makes it unique and one of its kind. IIM Indore also aims at creating a social conscious manager through its unique programme IPM (Integrated Programme in Management). IPM presents a unique opportunity for class 12 students who wish to see themselves in management career of tomorrow and demanding world. With the blend of IPM and PGP, different viewpoints panning across generations is a common sight in any of the classroom of the MBA course.

Castle on the Hill - Anne Marina, IIM Indore
A lot has been said about IIM Indore primarily about the batch size. But there is so much more to the campus, fondly called by its inhabitants as the Castle on the Hill which is the most unique feature. Rightly called so, the campus is a fortress guarded by the guard towers that encircle the campus. The castle on the hill as the layers, the tip of the hill being the revered academic block where you can see numerous students running to their classes around 8.45am after sleeping hardly 3 hours the previous night. The next layer includes the hot and happening place of the campus which included the PGP2 hostels, the revered Pi Shop, Messes, Adda- the IIM Indore hangout where at night time you can see people playing board games, doing assignments and also sometimes strumming a guitar and signing soulful melodies. The final layer includes the 1st year hostels referred as “Lanka” as it is extremely far from the rest of the central castle causing Lanka’s inhabitants to groan and moan every time they have to run to the academic block or for good food. The ladies of castle nestle comfortably in their own safe corner apart from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to avoid the long walks (or runs) to the academic block. The castle is regulated by tough schedules for the first years where as the second years lounge about creating envy in the mind of every first year student. The key characteristics of the castle on the hill that make it the apple of the eye of every other campus is the excellent weather year around, the biggest sports complex including an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis court, squash, cricket grounds, sauna’s and 3 basketball courts as well as badminton courts and table tennis courts. The second years fully utilize these facilities with the key “let me lose the weight since I have the free time”. The essentials on campus are free flowing through established trade routes keeping everyone happy on the castle on hill.

Internships are the best way to get your foot in the door and gain some first-hand experience of the corporate world for people like me who never had an opportunity to work with a firm and instead opted to go for higher education right after completing graduation. Working for a well-established brand in their summer internships is a dream for many, but with the number of students applying for such brands, landing an internship at one is very rare. Thus, if you end up taking an internship at a startup, is not that bad either.
