I joined IIM Trichy on 25th July 2018. I came from a joint family and IIM Trichy has perfectly replaced it. We are one family at IIM Trichy. It is home away from home. One of the best part about IIMs is that we need to break free of our protective shield and make new peers. And at IIM Trichy, we get to learn a lot from our peers.
I am a student of IIM Indore and I am going to introduce some of my craziest batch mates. I have never seen so much different kind of personalities in my whole life, which I have, interact in IIM Indore. The unique thing about the campus is even after having such a large batch size most of the student knows each other. I will start with a friend, he is one of the unique personalities and he is very possessive about the games and social media. His technical skills are very good but at the same time, he is very moody& foodie. He never shares his food with anyone. He is very shy to dance in front of people but once he is started he dance like an animal. Then a friend of mine, who is very possessive about the politics and for the entire month we have this discussion on the election result of the Karnataka. He is always curious to reduce his weight but can’t compromise on the food. So, for the whole day, he used to be on the diet but once he starts eating he equalize everything. He travels a lot and always enthusiastic about the trips with the friends to Goa, which never happened. Then there is this girl in my batch, who has a lot of skills. Sometimes I wonder how much you can learn from the people around you in IIM Indore. She is in clubs, participates in the extracurricular activates and at the same time she is good in her academics. Then there is this one of mine friend who is very emotional person that I have never seen my whole life. Once he starts working on some project, he involves so much in the work he forgot everything. Even his parents used to call me so that they can talk to him. In short IIM Indore has people from different background and very diversified. And the benefit of that is we get to know the different culture of India. And this will help us to understand the different point of view on the same topic because the thinking process also depends on a number of factors. The kind of environment in IIM Indore always encourages us to interact with the people on the campus. People here are very supporting and always ready to help. And because the friendly environment we never feel like we are away from home.
IIM Udaipur is well known as research-oriented institutions. The Academic curriculum of our college is also rigorous. But despite this busy schedule and workload we manage to spend time with friends and increase our knowledge from peer to peer learning not only about academics people but also about various parts of our country, multiple cultures and personality.
The protagonist of this story is a guy named Rupeeya Kumar who is an MBA student in the first year of the Post Graduate Program (PGP) at IIM Udaipur, amidst the jungles of Balicha a beautiful building with one of the largest campuses (approx 300 acres). The quality of life here is comparable to top B-schools in Europe. Rupeeya believed in integrity, excellence and did whatever he could to uphold the values of the institute. Ironically like the Rupee, Rupeeya has also seen highs and lows (more of lows) in the past. He even won the elections of the most sought off clubs in IIM Udaipur. He had a group of friends who hailed from various backgrounds, with varied experiences, two techies, a banker, a doctor and a CA.
The best thing about IIM Udaipur is learnings that happen in classes. Although classes are not only restricted to academic stuff, it is sometimes fun also. Some of the best lessons I have learned during MBA are from classroom interactions among peers, and teachers. I can recall a memorable experience which has taught me a lot. There are classes in which I didn’t have any interest, but the way the professor explained it made it most interesting.
Established in 2011, IIM Udaipur has set up a strong platform towards becoming one of the fastest growing institutes in the nation. Being an institute which is prominently research focused, it has instilled a value that academic excellence is the cornerstone, preparing one to face the external world successfully.
How life is at B-schools is a common query every outsider has. How it’s different from a regular graduation college? What’s so different is taught in B-school that has created the hype all around? It’s not surprising for a B-school student to get interrogated with all these questions from family members, friends, relatives or sometimes strangers too.
