"The Literary Club" of IIM Ranchi - The words of a Literati..

The Literary Club is the unofficial entertainment club of IIM Ranchi. It is a lively, enthusiastic group and it likes to dabble in a plethora of intriguing, often mutually exclusive fields of interest. Literature is its core competency. It consists of a bunch of avid bibliophiles, who love infecting others with our enthusiasm for classic literature, novels, poetry, plays and the written word in general. However, they are also hard core movie buffs, ardent comic lovers, fervent debaters and rabid fans of popular TV shows. But most importantly, it loves spreading knowledge and interest of all these disparate elements among all and sundry. Thus it has reinvigorated the Literary Club with the initiation of several new activities and forums to foster an appreciation of literature and culture. It is keen to show that literature and culture need not be drab or boring or highbrow, rather great works of art are found even in children’s books and strewn as graffiti on the sides of walls. The Literary Club reaches out to its audience through the events it conducts, its Facebook page, and the recently launched blog. The blog was launched with the intention of collecting and sharing great ideas chiselled with creativity and imagination. Through the platform, it invites guest writers to bring to light their stories, poems, reviews, and anything under the sun that will amuse the minds of readers.

What Did Year 1 of MBA at IIM Teach Me Afterall

What Did Year 1 of MBA at IIM Teach Me Afterall

After almost a year, I decided to pen down my experience. MBA at IIM did keep me super busy. Now when I’m home and meeting my own people, this one question comes running after me “What have you learnt in this one year?” I feel like reciting each day to them and the loads of stress that went by with each passing day, but I fail to utter much. That silence following my interrupted monologue says a lot to me if not to the person posing rhetoric before me.

‘No, Not Fashion Technology’ – The Non-IIM B-School Identity Crisis

“Returning home from college is it?” he said, as I hurled the largest of my bags on the Upper berth, for want of space beneath the lower one. ‘College nahi, Institute bolo’, I thought to myself, while managing a smile and sitting down next to him, as the train moved out of Hatia station. My fellow co-passenger seemed to be a decent chap, was an engineer (no surprises there!) and was working in a PSU. We got chatting, even though I was in no mood, exhausted from carrying nearly 45 kilos of my luggage from Delhi to board the train at Hatia (I had miscalculated and merrily sent just two Safexpress cartons home. Yes, I paid for excess baggage). I had mixed emotions, a year and eight months at IIFT had literally flown and I was extremely emotional. He kept talking about how his job was monotonous and that he wanted to study further. I nodded absent-mindedly, gazing past the window into the darkness.

Holi Celebrations At IIM Lucknow

Holi Celebrations At IIM Lucknow

The setting was perfect. It was the last day of classes for 1st-year students. A sense of nostalgia had crept in as the first three terms had passed in a jiffy. The campus had already been reeling under the effect after seniors had convocated. The time was ripe for the campus to come alive again.Holika Dahan happened in the evening. The bonfire was lit up as people gathered around. The timing synchronised well with the exciting cricket match going on. The dance and shouts getting louder as Team India kept hitting sixes. The final over win in the tense situation had everyone buoyed up for the morning celebrations.

Holi Celebration at IIFT Delhi

“Holi Haiiiii “ that’s the shout that was heard in the hostel corridors from early morning.  It was a day that doesn’t need any reason further to make it more special and happening. But we had some couple of extra reasons added to it to spice up the celebrations a little more and take it a notch above. Birthday of two of the batchmates today made them the natural choice to take the lead and start this celebration. And then the reason that not even 24 hours have passed which marked the end of the first year of MBA life at IIFT pumped in us the much needed extra dose of adrenaline to celebrate this festival of colors with a little bit more of fervor and joy.
