Birla’s close association with the Indian independence movement and its leaders including the philosophies of Gandhi, Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru, from close quarters stands testimony of what I said earlier of nation pride. He would be empty and isolated.Without people in our lives, we are nothing but things which exist and are forgotten later. But Aditya Birla Group came up with an idea. An idea that truly did change our lives. And that idea is The Idea. With these small cellular devices in our hands which we call a mobile phone, we could talk to someone sitting thousands of miles away from us. We could not only share our stories with each other, but we could hear each other’s voice and see each other’s faces.With a widespread network all over this beautiful nation of ours, it did not matter which corner of the country we were in. We could talk to our loved ones with just a few taps on the screens of our phones. And why should it not be? The range of products the company offers is immense. It is bound to play a part in your life at some point or the other. With the launch of BHIM ABPB, it strived to provide a kick-start to the digital payments transformation in India.
Not just in my life, Aditya Birla Group has been an indispensable part of every Indian’s life since the longest time. It has served us like no one else ever did. From shielding me against all the contigencies (Birla Sun Life Insurance) to fueling life to the savings of a million dreams (Aditya Birla Payments Bank), ABG was BIG. From influencing my sense of fashion (Pantaloons) to bringing me the world of fashion and going on to become India’s first billion-dollar fashion powerhouse (Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail), ABG is BIG.BIG is always the aggregate of its smaller components. I have always believed that these challenges are meant to be challenged. Though I consider myself to be lucky enough to not have faced any big hardships in life as such, because a strong family was always ready to take them for me but I did carve out my own way as I grew up. As a young toddler I was not very excited to go to school for studies, friends and mischief were the only attraction, it was a big challenge to introduce ‘discipline’ in my life. As a child it’s difficult to understand this but once when somehow I managed to achieve a top rank in the class, it was a big incentive for me to continue being a hard working and disciplined individual all through my life. How far I remember, I have always been playing cricket in my life, maybe this interaction with so many players led me believe that team is what is the most important part of winning a game. Once I had to captain a team of players who were considerably weaker as compared to the other, that day the challenge before me was to make that team win and instigating self belief and the importance of being in a team was enough to overcome that challenge, this particular incidence has helped me survive through a lot of difficult situations in life; just keeping in mind that you can do it. We do not realize this often but in this millennial world, saving yourself from all the distractions is a big challenge, things like peer pressure sometime become a big challenge, I am happy and somewhere proud to have said ‘no’ at times when it was difficult. I have managed to make beautiful friendships despite all this which have taught me to value human relationships more over materialistic desires. An individual can do anything if he really wants to do it, this idea has inspired me in all my difficult times, particularly in undergraduation, I had a lot of expectations with myself to get into the best college after my school, but luck too is a factor in life. I always felt that I was compromising with my potential with not getting a good company and he desired environment, but as I have already mentioned, self belief can do wonders, I stopped questioning myself and started doing what best I could have done and as hard work always pays you at the end, I ended up being in place like MDI.
