Being a woman in today’s world in not easy, everyone talks about gender equality, reservations for women etc., but in spite of all such awareness we still have film directors who say it’s true when you have the liberty to slap a woman in your relationship. No matter how advanced our world has become, woman still have to fight for their survival.
I belong to a small town named Valsad in Gujarat. On 26th January 2001 when the country was celebrating Republic day, we experienced a massive earthquake which changed our lives. The center of the earthquake was Kutch, however the seismic waves in Valsad were strong enough to create cracks in many houses.
Aditya Birla Group (ABG) has undoubtedly created a strong business and built a better world while doing so. They have realized that these are not conflicting goals and are essential for long term success of an organization. It has an extraordinary workforce of over 120,000 employees, belonging to 42 nationalities with presence in 34 countries. ABG is India’s third largest conglomerate meaning it has established its presence in the lives of each of us in some way.
PART AHow Aditya Birla Group is big in my life:-Aditya Birla group has always been an important part of my life. Be it the customary Loius Phillipe formals that I wear for interviews and presentations, or the Bandra Worli Sea link I used to avoid traffc. It has speciallly been helpful in my junior college days with minimal telecom service charge from Idea. The network literally saved me when I stuck in a building lift and the security bell didn't help.ABG’s CSR initiatives have always inspired me. The contribution made by ABG for society in Education, Health, Employment, and many other sectors is remarkable and I’m sure in the years ahead it will keep motivating me to stick to the path that I have chosen for myself.
We live in a competitive world today. Everyone is fighting tooth and nail to achieve their goals and ambitions. A B-school is no different, but the severity of competitiveness increases to a multi-fold here. In TAPMI, where there is an emphasis on academic rigor, a student is also expected to be an all-rounder. Thus, the various committees and competitions at TAPMI give us a great opportunity to work and showcase our skills and abilities. As an individual who loves to be actively involved in some or the other activity, I was highly interested to be a part of the ‘Student Executive Council’ (SEC) in TAPMI.
One of the most challenging situation I have faced till now is during my under graduation. When I first joined my college it was my dream to participate in SAE Baja Competition. Few year back one of our seniors group had participated in it and the ATV was displayed in our Lab. I was awestruck when I first saw it ,I went to my teacher to ask the procedure for participating but got disappointed after knowing our college no longer participate in these competition. Our was a government college, it faced a lot of problems related to funds and that to getting funds for projects was next to impossible. I had decided at that very moment that I will take my college team in one of these competitions by any means. I started working on the software learning and theory part of automobile side by side with my college curriculum. I took the initiative of convincing people to start working on the project, It was not a easy task to convince people and make them realize the learning experience they are going to get while working on this. I made a team of 25 people of which I was the captain. we worked day in day out on our dream, One of the major obstacle we had to face was the finance ,I tried my best for finding sponsorship but couldn’t get a significant one. At the end my team pooled in money in whatever capacity they could. Finally after a wait of 6 years we took our college at a all India level competition without the help of faculty or any other support. We were able to secure 39th position in the competition .This was the biggest achievement not only for me for my entire team.
Pursuing MBA was a career choice, Yes. But there were more than that to it. There were something about being a part of a company's strategic team, driving the company towards it's goal and ambition. Ever since i was in My penultimate year in my under-grad college, i thought of applying for MBA. I quickly found out that I had to clear one of the all India entrance exam to be eligible for admissions in any of the top colleges. I decided to take up some coaching in one of the institutes which prepared for CAT. When i went there, it felt that i was lost, people already started preparing months before it, they were attending classes regularly and i felt intimidated if i could even compete with them.I got one of the last slots in the weekend classes which used to happen in Saturday and Sunday morning at 7.30 AM. Then came my final year, and like all of my peers, i was knee down in placement preparation. But i didn't stop my preparation for MBA. i distinctly remember, even on Saturdays where i had placement processes lined up, i'd go to the center, give my MBA mock exam, followed by rushing back to my hostel, changing to formal wear and giving exams for companies which came on campus. From being a night owl, to waking up every morning to read newspaper and catch up on things happening around India, it was a journey. And at the end of it, i became a part of the pioneer HR batch at, T.A.Pai Management Institute, one of the few freshers who made it. Self doubt and apprehension were plenty. But with the support of my family and peers, i made it.
