ABG- Impacting Lives- TAPMI

ABG- Impacting Lives- TAPMI

Marwaris is a highly successful, dynamic and indigenous entrepreneurial group which has its roots in Jodhpur region of southwest Rajasthan. Marwaris started out as traders, however they gradually turned to industry after the First World War. Since then, they have dominated the Indian private industry scenario and established the country’s most prominent business houses. One such business house is the Aditya Birla Group (ABG). The group’s foundations can be traced back to a cotton trading business started by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla during the 1870s. Today, Aditya Birla Group has transformed into a $44.3 billion India multinational conglomerate synonymous with trust, integrity, commitment and passion. The group has touched lives in 35 countries it operates in and employs more than 1.2 lakh people worldwide. Its $44.3 billion annual revenue is only bettered by 2 other Indian conglomerates - the Tata group and Reliance Industries. The group is involved in metals, cement, apparels, telecommunications, financial services, chemicals, fertilisers and IT services among others.

ADITYA BIRLA - MAKING MY LIFE BIG_TAPMI

1857 may be famous for the Great Sepoy Mutiny, but it has another huge event; the foundation of Aditya Birla Group by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. The journey from then, till now is nothing short of a fairytale. Started as a Jute Manufacturing company to what transpired to now being the third largest conglomerate in the country. It operates in 14 industry sectors achieving global and national leadership in almost all the segments. The influence of such a huge conglomerate is to be felt by every citizen in the country, be it consciously or unconsciously. Even while writing this article, I am wearing garments produced by them (Allen Solly), hostel rooms made by their material (Ultratech Cement), my phone being managed by their networks (Vodafone-Idea), having my lunch safely packed in a foil made by them (FreshPakk), the payment of which was made by their payments bank (ABPB). Such huge is the impact of their brand that we cross paths with this brand and is unknowingly hugely dependent on this brand. Not only in this country, but in the 35 countries that it operates and lucky are those 120,000 employees that gets to work for such a huge conglomerate. Its impact can be traced from all products around us and as they say: “Big is massive, Big is microscopic, but mostly Big is Indispensable”. Such was evident from their recent ad campaign that mainly focused on a Aditya Birla Giant travelling round the globe and reminding us how big their influence is in our life. Coming back to its influence in my life, since placements are due in short time, I am going to a Pantaloons store in the evening to buy some Peter England formals, which are again ABG products and stores riding my two wheeler, the tires of which are made safe by Birla Carbon nano particles. Such omnipresent and such big and huge is their presence in my life and also to others. ABG as a group is also influencing all the strata of the society through its CSR initiatives and bringing smiles to people who really need it and also their idea of sustainable livelihood for all is making huge strides and is ought to be the future of doing business where they are driving India to the world.

ADITYA BIRLA GROUP - EVERYWHERE, ALWAYS! - TAPMI

The transition from childhood to adulthood in my life resulted in a number of changes in my lifestyle. One such change was that I started choosing branded products over unbranded ones, especially in case of apparels. Brands like Peter England and Allen Solly started taking over my wardrobe. Today, I am a loyal customer of these brands and adore the quality of their products. The confidence that I get from using their products gets reflected in my behaviour and adds value to my life. I developed a sense of curiosity to know more about holding companies of these brands. I was amazed when I came to know that both these companies and numerous other aspirational brands all belong to the Aditya Birla Group. I understand that the group’s companies are completely dominating the apparels and fashion industry. I realized that I am using their product, knowingly or unknowingly, every single day.

In 2002, Raghu Mukherjee, the Karnataka lad won the Mr India title and went onto win the coveted Mr International pageant later.  Watching Grasim Mr India pageant with my parents is my earliest memory of Aditya Birla Group (ABG).  That is when the golden hues and the bright red Sun rays of the logo grabbed my attention.  And with time, like the crisscrossing Sun beams in its new logo, refracting into multidimensional facets, ABG has forayed into and become big in my life.

Dress Up for Success- TAPMI

Dress Up for Success- TAPMI

“You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it” said American Costume Designer Edith Head. What she said is debatable but if there is one area that the Aditya Birla group has made a huge impact on my life then its fashion. Aditya Birla group entered the men’s ready ware segment through the acquisition of Madhura Fashion and Lifestyle Ltd in 1999. With the acquisition of Pantaloons in 2012 and the subsequent consolidation in the branded apparel industry, today, Aditya Birla Fashion Limited is India’s only billion dollar fashion powerhouse. The company has a network of 2714 stores, presence across approximately 18000 multi-brand outlets across India. Aditya Birla Fashion Limited also retails international brands such as The Collective and Hackett London’s. In order to expand its international offering it has partnered with Simon Carter and Ted Baker two of UK’s famous fashion brands.
