Aditya Birla Group in my Life - Sucharita Kheto, SJMSOM, IIT Bombay

Being a Bengali, Durga Puja is always very core to our heart. During Puja we used to go for shopping along with family to the city. I remember we used to go to Peter England store for my father’s clothing and then we used to go to Pantaloons for me and my sister’s clothing. Till now when it comes to do some quick shopping, Pantaloons tops my list. As I am from a small town, Kirana stores were the only medium to buy groceries. I remember on 2007, the first departmental store ‘MORE’ was opened in our town. We were very excited to shop from MORE because that was a different experience to shop from an AC store where we can pick the items from the shelves by ourselves. MORE brought every necessary items under a single roof. We were there to buy from groceries to ice creams. After that Since College, for buying formal wears Allen Solly and Van Heusen always top my list. In case of clothing, it has always topped in the category of comfort. I also remember Idea was the connection for my very first Mobile phone. Aditya Birla Group has always been present in my life in every stage and it was always a very nice experience to be associated with such brands.

Aditya Birla Group is one of the very few conglomerates where everyone would like to give a special preference for its best service. Many people might not have even realized, how closely their life has been associated with Aditya Birla Group. Coming to my experience, I am a customer of one of the multi brand fashion retails, Pantaloons (owned by Aditya Birla Group), which provides one of the finest clothing in the country. Quality and Affordability are always inter dependent. Generally, if the quality goes up, the affordability comes down. If the quality comes down, the graph of the affordability tend to increase. But one thing I could observe as a reliable customer of Pantaloons, where the quality curve is always at its peak is that the affordability also tends to compete with it. And how amazing it feels when we realize that Aditya Birla Group is the one which brought some of the best foreign brands like Peter England, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Forever 21 etc available to the customers in our country. Providing the best and reliable Telecommunication services while competing with some of the best providers in the market is not something that is easy. Idea has been doing this since many years. Aditya Birla Group has not only had a great impact in my past life, I believe it will also have in my future. To many including me, Aditya Birla Group is not just a conglomerate or a coveted leader, it is more than that as it has had a pretty much positive impact on our lives.

Challenges- TAPMI

Challenges are a part of life and every success story is full of challenges. I also have faced challenges during several phases of my life. I would like to share one of the challenge which I faced in recent past. From about last two years I was working with an IT firm. My role was of a developer and I was working in a team of 7 members. We got a project which was handled by another company as it was not able to cope up with the high-end technical skills required for that project in a short period of time. We were working on PEGA technology as our front-end and Openspan as our back-end to run our ROBOTICS Automation. To connect our front-end and back-end we had to use JavaScript and this was the challenge we were facing as it was an extra work which was overburdening our small team. So, I researched a lot and found a way which could cut the JavaScript part and make our work easy. It was a very risky step to take, as trying anything new and failing meant missing the deadline and also I would be the reason for which my team had to work overtime to compensate that lost time. But my technical-lead allowed me to go for it and luckily we got successful and our workload was reduced by a great margin. For this work I was given the best Rating, which is not so common in fresher year in corporate world, and also appreciation from senior management as well as the client.  From this I learnt that challenges will always be tough, it’s us who have to decide how we can face it and be successful in our life as well as make an impact on society.

My Smooth Ride - TAPMI

Frankly speaking, my life was and still is smooth as a Ferrari. I owe all of this pleasure to my parents who have always thought of my challenges as their own. The definition of ambitions has changed from when I was a child and now when I am a semi-adult (yeah you read that right). I can say that challenges had provided me with new opportunities in life. For instance, my ambition as a child was to be cricketer, but because of difficulty in balancing my studies with that of sports, I had to take a logical call for my future. My parents always stressed on the point that, " You must think hard and know the extent to which you like your interest", sounds weird but that basically translates to "not all hobbies make a career in that field". Although, over time I dropped my interest in Cricket, not because I wanted to, but it happened on its own. Coming to high school life, being a meticulous student, my whole life, I lacked on interacting with new people and speaking out to everyone. I still wish that I could have done more on that aspect. But don't worry for me, I improved on that part in my Engineering days and felt better about myself.
