When Push Comes to Shove - TAPMI

I was lucky to be a part of a prestigious school in my formative years. The kind of school that’s exactly 100 years older than our own country’s independence and is rich with history and who’s alumni include the likes of Neerja Bhanot and Abhishek Bachchan. It’s the kind of school where you make each day count and try to make your mark; and opportunities were plentiful. I had a chance to leave my mark when the school decided to hold its first, ever, intraschool Model United Nations. It was an instant hit amongst the students and around 300 students applied to be part of the participating teams. Another 150 applied to be a part of the managing committee and I vied a seat on the task force. After a couple of rounds of elections, essays and interview, I was inducted into the MUN management team and work began swiftly as the event was the less than 3 weeks away.

Sons and Fathers

Sons and Fathers

The image created by the media and adverts on tv about the relationship between a father and a son always seems a bit cliché. The tough love of a father compared to the gentle touch of a mother. I feel society has created a notion about the general mood of the male parent - tough exterior and hard please. While mother are adoring and protective, fathers are shown as the strict teacher who goes out of the way to teach by example or by outcome. It is true in most cases, and probably for the better. So much so that it is almost reflexive for most sons and fathers to have a metaphorical wall of silence between them, as if emotions are meant for infants. Somehow talking only about exams and sports with our fathers is the norm.

Triumphing over Challenges - Unique story of a common man- TAPMI

It is said that "Life throws challenges at you that will help you become a better version of yourselves." What isn't properly explained is that this change can only be observed in the hindsight. Like a mountaineer who can appreciate the magnitude of his climb once he has safely reached the basecamp on return, overcoming a challenge can only be realized when you look at it in the rearview mirror of your journey of life. This is a story about how I overcame self-doubt, low self-confidence, and other factors to join the college of my dreams - RV College of Engineering.
