Rising against the odds

Rising against the odds

One of the most powerful, most underrated things is how doing a bit of something each day racks up into something enormous. This is my Mantra of my life. However, it was not the same since the beginning. At 26, I am not young enough to be called Reckless, but I am old enough to be called Responsible. My life has been a journey from one R to another, and this is my story, thanks for making time to read about my journey of how I rose to the occasion.

My life has been a series of inspirations. My parents, my friends, my books and my experiences have all chiseled a path for me that I believe has led me to who I am today. My foray into taking up multifaceted roles since childhood made me comfortable with challenges enabling me to shed my apprehensions to uncertainty. Being an extroverted child since the beginning, the stage was always a dream. I always had a predilection towards public speaking but was not articulate enough for Just-a-minute competitions, extempore and impromptu debates. But that is also exactly what I always wanted to do. I took it in my stride to give it a shot and give it all it takes till I am convinced with my performance. I started participating in school level debates and public speaking events, took up class responsibilities from the teachers and often acted as their representative to distribute information in various classes, enrolled myself for various inter-school competitions and much more. It was a long struggle but, a total of 23 public speeches and 10 debate competitions later, I finally got the chance to participate in the state’s biggest public speaking competition. The opportunity of my dreams was knocking and now all I had to do was rush to the door and hold it with both my hands. I portrayed an attitude of never giving up and coming back stronger from my defeats, throughout my journey and with that confidence, eventually won the competition. More than the trophy, the standing ovation of the audience is what validated my struggle and made me believe that all it takes is unchallenged determination and grit to achieve your goals and ambitions in life. One may either be the result of their fears, or the result of their courage. Today, I can proudly say that I am the latter.

Dream!

Dream!

Well, where do I begin! A boy born in a nondescript village 30 kilometres from Varanasi, near Bihar border, has definitely come a long way in his life. It might sound like a movie from Bollywood but I believe there isn't anything fancy about it. In fact, I believe my life graph has been very straightforward. My father moved out of his village after securing a job in the State government police. When he got settled, he called us to live with him; I was 10 years old. For a boy, a city like Pratapgarh, where we first moved in, was full of life, the exact opposite to the calmness of a village. For a young boy, with no restriction, his bicycle and city's exploration was everything. He learnt a lot about life and realised how less he has seen, and how much still is to be seen.

“Most people never get to see how brilliant they can be. They don’t find people that believe in them. They get convinced they’re stupid.” - It was only recently that I realized the bitter truth in this statement.

A giant man walks around our world fixing things. He is seen picking trashed soda cans from the hills, walking around scenic highways protecting a family with superior tiers (on an amazing car), while the background score pleases our ears. He is seen bridging societies, both literally and figuratively, by laying the foundations of bridges and roads, and a mobile network connecting billions of lives. This ad was created by the digital magicians at Vyas Giannetti Creative and the giant signifies the colossus Indian multi-national conglomerate, Aditya Birla Group. “Big in your life” campaign is on target as it attempts to cover this organization’s work.
