Pillion rides in Naxal Territory - Internship at TATA Trusts

“The summer heat is unbearable. At 45 degrees, the air itself seems to have taken on the magical property of suffocating humans in broad daylight. I curse myself for having opted out of the summer internship process of my college in order to spend two months in the social sector. As I hold on to the rear of the motor bike for dear life, the only person I can think of, strangely enough, is Heimdall, the guardian Sentry of Asgard in the Marvel Comics Universe. “Heimdall, beam me up from this godforsaken place!”, I utter a silent prayer.

'I chose AIIM over XLRI' - Vijay Ahir, PGP Class of 2015

'I chose AIIM over XLRI' - Vijay Ahir, PGP Class of 2015

With barely a month away from Placement season, Vijay Ahir is exactly where he wants to be… top of his PGP class of 2015 at AIIM! A Civil Engineer by education, Vijay joined Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management after 7 years with Larsen and Toubro. Starting out as a Trainee Engineer in the Technology Services Division of L&T, Vijay ended up handling a number engineering services provided to ‘Fortune 500’ clients of L&T in the US; projects with a CAPEX of 45 million USD to 75 million USD. For 4 years he did this, and life would’ve been pretty much about shuttling between India and California – had it not been for L&T’s in-house training establishment. Vijay was detailed for a 1-year Executive education programme in Finance at IIM, Kozhikode. Their programme involved faculties teaching the participant over video conferencing and visit to IIM-Kozhikode campus for on campus study.. Here for the first time, Ahir was exposed to Finance.

The Birth of Re-Commerce - Strategy with RS

The Birth of Re-Commerce - Strategy with RS

E-Commerce poster boys – Flipkart, Snapdeal & Amazon created a platform for connecting sellers, offering fresh stock, with buyers. Over time it has lead to creation of a new market place for selling used products. OLX, Quikr cater to this market. These 2 market places feed on each other. The 1st sells fresh stock while the 2nd take it out making room for the 1st to step in again. This cycle is self perpetuating. A new business model – Re-commerce may threaten these business models.
