Starting out with any project seems tough, but as you begin to understand the various facets of the task handed out to you, everything slowly starts falling into place. This has more or less been the journey for me so far at Mahindra, and I could not have asked for something more enriching. Figuratively, I've moved from gear one to gear two, things have caught on pace, and so has the learning.
After a good induction session with the top leaders of the Group, it was time for us to get into our respective projects. I was given the project in Mahindra Finance in their SME division. My Project Guide was the head of sales of the division. He explained to me everything about the functioning of the company and his vertical, in our first meeting itself. He was very optimistic with the project and explained with what he expects from me in the end. He gave me full freedom to design me the path and timeline and even the milestones of the project, keeping in mind the final outcome.
During these two weeks, I entered a phase in the project where I began talking to multiple stakeholders. There was a lot of groundwork to do so as to ensure that the recommendations I give were viable. It took immense collaboration to do this, especially because 4 weeks is too short a time period to get to know an organization well enough to give recommendations.

It seems like yesterday when I was all excited to start the new journey and joined Mahindra for my two month internship and had a full induction week in the picturesque Worli Office. Presently, it has been almost a month since I have started this exciting journey and I must admit that the journey has just evolved to be more interesting and exciting with each passing day. The past month has just flown by and may be now I have fully understood the meaning of the sentence that ‘Time just flows when you are having a good time'.
Enrolling in a B-school is one of the greatest decisions of life. Reasons to join an MBA program are many. While some want to have a progression in career, some want career shift. For some, it is the Business acumen and knowledge gained. The most important of all is the self-growth, the ability to make decisions with limited information, the ability to execute, to build empathy and leadership skills and the most vital part is learning the art of networking.
After the eventful first week at Mahindra, all the GMC interns were really prepped up and super excited to finally start working on our projects and get to know our respective teams a bit better.
Whenever I searched for motivational books online, I was taken to lists filled with non fictions and self help books. I wanted to read books that are fun as well as educating. After a lot of digging, I finally found these 5 fictions that are perfect for curling up on the couch whilst motivating.
