“Congratulations, You have been selected for the HRM program at XLRI Jamshedpur”....These words echoed through my mind as I stood in front of our giant Learning Center admiring its beauty. Six months in XL had passed yet it seemed like we came here yesterday, how time flew amongst all the submissions and assignments was still a mystery, amongst the hustle of lectures and the constant paucity of time, I stood there wondering, “Do I really belong here?”
Many a time in life we spend an enormous amount of time and energy trying to fit in somewhere, we never aimed. I will not lie, but my stagnant career was the unpleasant repercussion of this very fact.
I was a starry-eyed kid when I joined my first job. Fresh out of college, we were a bunch of motivated millennials who were excited to work in their dream company. Setting foot for the first time in a swanky office of an MNC made us jittery. We were all wondering how we will fit in with these professionals!
Who is a manager? What does it mean to be a manager? Is she/he someone who gives a solution to every problem? Is she/he a troubleshooter that saves an organization in a time of crisis? Is she/he a leader that inspires people to follow that path to greatness? Is an MBA just a degree and a road to high paying jobs?
This is the story of a girl who didn’t want what we all are more or less puppets to - being shackled as rats in this corporate world.
