Obviously, every dreamy-eyed management fuchcha /fuchchi has his/her eyes set on the “prize catch” – great company, great profile, worthy stipend; in short, a CV booster. And then follows the same process of burning the midnight oil, mugging up marketing fundas (the ‘one-night stand’ with Kotler!).

Summer Shopping - (An article on Summer Placements at IIM)
First year Bschool students all over India are busy dusting their shopping bags, looking around the job marketplace, and deciding what fancy brands to handpick and apply for; which ones to aggressively aim for and make sure they have in their kitty at the end. It isn’t very different from a supermarket, in that you set out with a shopping list, but are dazzled by what’s on display, and often come back with things you’d never set out to shop for in the first place! (Do I see many second year-ites nodding their head vigorously?)

Along with finance roles, consulting profiles are the most sought-after at top-tier B-schools mainly because of the fat pay-checks, the chance to work with great people and great brands, international exposure right at the internship stage and an almost sure-shot chance at a Pre-placement offer. So given below is a snapshot of the kind of profiles that are selected and the kind of preparation that is required to do well in a consulting selection process. This list may not be exhaustive but still covers the major aspects of cracking an internship opportunity with a consulting firm.
