It was the month of May and like everyone else I was also searching the internet on which B-school is the best. I was frantically going through reviews, comparing placement reports, checking rankings, etc. but nothing gave me a satisfactory solution. So I did what any B-school aspirant would do. I decided to take out the brahmastra. The strongest weapon in my arsenal, brahmastra- the Pagalguy poll! It was the best way I could think of to get some answers, so I went online and created a poll. Discussions and arguments among aspirants rampaged on which b-school is the best. They all fought well, but it reaped no rewards for me. I continued to be confused and kept frantically searching for some honest answers.
One day while walking in the park, lost and disheartened, I met Lord Krishna (finance faculty from Nirma University) who told me that the Director of IIMU has a very dynamic personality and is a revered professor from IIMB. Lord Krishna, as he would, hinted that the Director’s vision for IIMU is very good and suggested that I should opt for it without thinking twice. Excited, I went back to my room, took out my arsenal (laptop) and googled about the Director of IIMU. The more I searched, the more impressed I was getting by IIMU; eventually tilting towards making it my 1st option I asked the industry professionals in my family for their suggestions and was happy to see that they all were inclined towards IIMU.
Enlightened by the words of Lord Krishna, I started to see things clearly. I realised that IIMU had great leadership, a beautiful campus, amazing faculty, and most importantly it had values like transparency, excellence, integrity which showed in the way their admission process was conducted. By this time I was fully convinced to join IIMU. But being an MBA candidate, how can I enjoy even 2 minutes of peace?
The kauravas on Pagalguy (waitlisted candidates) constantly tried to persuade me to opt for other colleges. They showed me placement reports, spoke about the low average package at IIMU, locational disadvantage, etc. but I didn’t budge. We fought a long & exhausting battle, but eventually, I stood for what I believed in. I truly believe that with the vision that Director Mr. Janat Shah has for IIMU, it will do wonders. There aren’t many B-schools in India that focus on entrepreneurship & research. IIMU is trying to create a niche for itself and is not blindly following other top B-schools in India, which for me is a refreshing change.
Studying today in IIMU I can say that this institute has stood up far beyond my expectations. It has been a memorable journey so far and to look at it, it has been only 2 weeks. I hope that all the Arjuna’s out there meet their Lord Krishna and be enlightened so that they can take the right decision as I have.
