It was on a field visit to a village in Odisha when I received a text from a friend to check for the results of XIMB. After a tiring effort to get some network, I was overjoyed to read my admission confirmation into Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, which we Odias call “Jha-bier” with pride. I grew up in Bhubaneswar and learned about the excellence of XIMB nationwide since childhood from my father. It was now my turn to enter the epitome of greatness, XIMB. Before joining, I set out to explore the plethora of things XIMB could offer.
The main reason for me choosing XIMB will be its brand image and the special place it enjoys among the top corporates of the country. Besides, this institute had Ph.D. compulsory for its faculties, justifying its top-notch performance. During my interaction with seniors, I loved the way of senior-junior interaction in the campus and how the rigorous academic schedule keeps you pre-occupied all the time. XIMB also hosted diverse cultural events, the best form of refreshment one can get.
Being located in Bhubaneswar, recently adjudged the best smart city wiped out the woes of its locational disadvantages. The 100 % placement record for a humongous batch strength of 360 was luring enough for me. Besides this, the college administration, being student-driven, offers a lot of position of responsibilities to work as a team and learn from peers along with great opportunities for student exchange in some of the reputed Management schools across the globe and a big basket full of live projects and case study competitions to work on.
The deciding factor for me to choose between new IIMs, the major threat and XIMB was its huge base of alumnus which would be more helpful in the long run than the IIM tag. All in all, I realized joining XIMB would offer a lot of things on the plate and it’s my hard work that would matter in the end. So I dreamt, geared up and packed my bags. I am currently reaping the benefits.
ABG Company I would like to work for
I would like to be a part of the ABG Leadership program which would expose me to diverse business functions and take up challenges. Given a chance, I would like to work for Aditya Birla Retail Ltd. in its supply chain department. I hold a master degree in Industrial Engineering and am well acquainted with the risks and problems involved in supply chain management by working on projects in the same segment. Being a part of this already well-established business would help me increase the domain knowledge and be involved with a team which takes up the best strategic decisions.
