Going for MBA was always in the back of my mind while I was working at L&T Construction. I wanted to equip myself with the requisite knowledge that a manager should possess.
There was a reason I chose IIM Udaipur over every other college that had given me admission. The academic focus of IIMU alongside the vision that the director has for the college made my choice easier. I vividly remember my first day at the institute, meeting my batchmates and the seniors. I was amazed by the diverse backgrounds people had come for.
Then I had the chance of hearing out the person whom I had started admiring during this time, Professor Janat Shah, director of IIMU. He spoke with such passion about the institute, it reinstated my belief that I had made the right decision of choosing IIMU over others. Its hard to see such a motivated leader at the helm of an educational institute, wanting to take the institute to greater heights. I believe this is one of the factors that sets IIMU apart, its Director!
The rains followed soon and the Aravali hills soon turned green. It was an experience in itself, sitting by your hostel window, sipping the coffee and just gazing at the beauty around you. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the view takes away all the tiredness that is a part of a B-School life. And I fell in love with the institute again!
The club inductions and activities followed after a few weeks. I had heard about the student-driven culture at IIMU, but it was time to see it through my own eyes. There were rigorous rounds for every club/committee induction, making sure that the best of the best get inducted. Together with it came immense respects for the seniors, for making the complete process transparent. Indeed, every stakeholder stands by the core values of transparency and integrity. There are some decisions you regret and there are some you are happy about. I was getting reasons to be happy with my decision, again and again.
The first year was a roller coaster ride. I learnt that MBA is more than just the classroom learnings. When you reflect back, you realise that everything that happens here happens for a reason. You can learn from everything you are a part of, the clubs, the study groups and almost anything you can think of. I can for sure say that the kind of learning opportunities IIMU provided me, helped me deliver better during my summer internship at Johnson & Johnson. I could find the change in myself compared to the days at L&T. I was more structured, more disciplined and more professional in my approach. And almost every time I got appreciated by my mentor, I thanked my stars for taking the right decision.

Since I want to pursue my career in supply chain management, I would like to join Aditya Birla Retail Limited. Aditya Birla Retail deals with product categories like FMCG, groceries, pharmacy etc which provides ample learning opportunity for a supply chain enthusiast. With the environment becoming more uncertain, the challenge ahead in this sector is all the more. Managing the supply chain in retail sector would provide me ample learning opportunities and given the ever-changing dynamics in the field of supply chain, the learning is never going to stop. Given the high quality of standards that this business unit maintains, it will help me grow as a strong supply chain professional.
