IIM Indore is situated on a hill called Prabandh Shikhar in the outskirts of Indore. It has a vast campus of 193 acres, with a great deal of architecture. It has a lot of facilities like there are many gyms, one huge Olympic sized swimming pool, one big cricket stadium, one basketball court, and different options for food on the campus. Our college also screens new Bollywood movies every weekend. There are amazing hostels where every student gets a whole room to themselves. The academic block is a treat to eyes. The architecture is so close to the logo of our college.
But this is not the highlight of my college. Almost every college has these facilities, and many of other colleges have an even bigger campus and have better facilities.
What makes my campus unique is the whole journey of this management program. The running to class to get on time to punch in before the class starts, given we need to climb a lot of stairs to reach there. The walk to the mess to get something to eat between classes. The amazing people who make my life better, just by being around.
These people add so much to my life, and the campus is nothing without them. Different people, like the leaders who decide to make other’s life better by coming up with ideas like Pi Shop, Xpressomat, JAM, other food places, etc. And the ones, who care to take them forward, fight for it. The ones who teach the lesser privileged workers in the campus to help them move ahead in their life. The ones, who take the initiative to add fun, energy and celebrations into our lives by making sure that we celebrate all kind of festivals; and the ones, who make sure that we get placed in one of the prestigious company at a prestigious position.
The late night discussions: discussions about anything. Be it a case study, or about alcohol or just gossip. Sometimes we talk about our dreams and hopes, our deepest darkest secrets and fears, knowing that all of us are going through some battle inside themselves, given everyone is here to achieve something and this campus, the people around us, makes this journey a beautiful one.
I hope that when I am successful, I come back and contribute something to this college and this campus and enable our future batches by making their struggle easier. My campus is hence unique in every way anyone can think about.
Which ABG company you want to work for and why?
I am not a hardcore fashionista, but it does matter to me. And so, I would like to work in the fashion industry of ABG. Louis Phillipe or Van Heusen would be my first two choices.
After I have joined this MBA program, I have started buying a lot of formals for myself, and Louis Phillipe is one the first brands I ever shopped a formal for myself. But the major problem I see is these stores don’t market women formals as much it should be. The brand makes excellent material for women, but some of the stores don’t even store women formals. So I would like to join the sales and marketing vertical of one of these companies.
