MBA is not just a Masters degree tag that your name carries. For me, it is a privilege that shapes a person into a well-taught leader. The case studies in the courses at IIMU are chosen with the utmost care, which helps us to relate to real-life scenarios. The culture and teaching practices at IIMU helped me to understand and evaluate the what, why and how of the practices that lead products/services/businesses to success.
In 2016, before I started my MBA journey, I visited Pune along with my family. We went to a famous restaurant in Pune, which follows a waiting system to allocate a table to its customers. I waited impatiently worrying about how quickly we could get a table to sit and enjoy the food. In 2018 (after one year of MBA at IIM Udaipur), I happened to visit the same restaurant and experienced a similar situation again – a long wait to get a table. This time, I was observing the crowd and watching the person who was allocating tables to the customers. The interesting fact is that my worry completely shifted to what the average waiting time was; what time the restaurant takes to serve orders for a single table; how the restaurant can meet the demand from its customers; how the tables were allocated to customers? Whoa! Wait! What did I start thinking about? The manner in which I perceived the same situation differed. I noticed the changes in my thought process. I was literally experiencing the concepts that I learned throughout my one year in MBA course that twined everything related to business. I got the gist of what and how MBA teaches you. I felt very satisfied and happy that I got to know the real essence of what MBA is doing to my thought process and habits.
Which ABG company would you like to work for and why?
I want to work in the retail sector of the Aditya Birla Group. Aditya Birla retail sector operates under the brand names More Megastore, More Quality 1st Supermarkets, and other owned brands. I am aiming for a career in the marketing domain. The in-store hygiene factors like the way in which products are arranged, the fight among brands for shelf space, the announcements about the discounts and offers in any supermarket play a key role in impacting the buying decision of the customer. Shopper marketing comes into play at this point leading to customer satisfaction and getting a share of the customer’s wallet is always essential to drive any company.
