As a student of IIM Indore, to describe my campus as unique would be an understatement. Throughout my first year, from interacting with people from all walks of life to being part of activities I never imagined I would get into, to balancing the stress of academics, this campus has played a huge role in shaping who I am as a person.

Boasting the biggest batch size amongst all IIMs, and having the Integrated Programme in Management, this campus hosts people as young as 20 years old to as experienced as 28 years old. The amount of insight one can get into everything, from the wide range of different skills people here possess, is second to none. Added to that, we have people coming from all parts of the country, with different tastes and interests in sports, music, academics, etc. The potential for one to learn from their peers and to share their own interests and skills with others is next to endless. From understanding the thought process of your classmates to working in clubs and committees, it provides the perception that is really handy once one enters the corporate world.

The location of the campus, atop a hill, coupled with its amazing weather, provides a serene atmosphere throughout the year. Being able to see the entire city from the highest points, the campus offers a tranquil and calm presence. If that doesn’t seem enough, IIM Indore is known for its Rural Immersion Programme, which allows students to broaden their perspectives about the social issues still present in our country, through spending a week in the village, and understanding the issues at a grassroots level.

Added to this, the campus is host to a variety of student-run ventures, such as the PI Shop, which has everything required to sustain hostel life, starting from stationary to edibles, and various food ventures such as Aladeen, which work to feed the ever-hungry students of the campus.

Finally, the campus allows endless outside exposure, in the first year through its Industry Interface Programme, wherein students take up live projects in different companies in various different industries. This gives the students a chance to understand the problems even high-level management faces, and allows them to come up with out of the box solutions to help their assigned companies. In the second year, part of the batch is sent on the Student Exchange Programme to various universities across Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Oceania, and the rest have the opportunity to go on the Himalayan Outbound Programme, wherein several management skills such as teamwork and decision making are learnt through an environment where students trek to several locations around the Himalayas.

I believe the amalgamation of all these features truly makes the campus unique and allows for an experience which truly helps one to better themselves.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

If given an opportunity, I would want to work for Aditya Birla Capital Limited. Coming from an engineering background, my passion for learning Finance might be quite recent, however, it is something I want to apply for the betterment of the society. Through being able to work in the wealth or asset management divisions, I would want to develop and use skills in order to help people save for their futures, through investing in companies that have a strong social responsibility and a potential for huge growth
