Unique Infrastructure
IIM Indore was established in 1996 and was the 5th IIM to open in India after Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow. As the Government educational institute go, the land was owned by the Government of India. There was a hospital on the 193-acre land which was demolished and the new campus was made. With world class amenities, classrooms, Olympic size swimming pool, the campus boasts one of the best infrastructures among IIMs. In fact, the campus is so big that the students joke about the architect/contractor who got the task of developing the campus – that he got too much enthusiastic about it and in the process, the campus became too big. Geographically, the campus has a hill in the centre on which sits the Academic block where our classes take place. The surrounding areas have hostels, the faculty residents, sports complex and so on.
Unique Programs
With one of the largest batch strengths among the IIMs, the IIM Indore management has been quite liberal about trying out new things and programs. For example, there is the Integrated program in Management (IPM) where students join the program after their 12th standard and by taking a 3-year bachelor’s degree, continue on to the Postgraduate program in management. In the past, the management has tried a Dubai campus for those who want to pursue the management program from the Middle East. The faculty of 99 in IIM Indore has considerable industry and domain experience.
Unique courses
There are many skills based and unique programs that run in IIM Indore. For having a contextual connect, there is a Rural Immersion Program (RIP) which enables the students to understand the social problems in a hands-on manner by living in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. The program is augmented by various government schemes like the ‘Swatch Bharat Mission’. There is another unique program called the Industry Interface Program (IIP) where the students get to work on an industry problem and they get a chance to propose a solution to the company with the help of faculty guidance. There is also a Himalaya outbound program (HOP) which prepare the students for a corporate career and help them perform unfamiliar tasks in the team at various altitudes in the Himalayas.
Unique Student exchange
IIM Indore has a strong Student Exchange program (STEP) where around 100 students get an opportunity to spend a semester in a globally well-known university and explore the culture of different regions around the globe. IIM Indore has maintained strong relationships with various top-ranking universities around the world.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why? The Aditya Birla Science and Technology Company Private Limited is the ABG company I’d like to work in. The company lies at the heart of research and development efforts that the group needs for its diversified business. With the help of state of the art equipment, I’d like to lead the scientists and engineers to create cutting-edge products and technology and generate value for ABG group and the customers. Since this group partners internally with many ABG group’s companies, it would help me learn a lot about ABG’s businesses and give me great exposure.
