One thing that I have found at IIM Udaipur is that one should always learn to expect the unexpected. This is not limited to the course and faculty but the students as well. I have my batch to be one of the most colourful group of people that I have interacted with over the course of my life so far. My experience in IIM Udaipur has been shaped greatly by these individuals whether they know about it or not and helped me overcome some of my major shortcomings. I would like to describe a few of them while not naming anyone in the interest of their privacy.
The first person was someone who helped me greatly in overcoming my crippling fear of public speaking and has advised me on multiple occasions about measures that I could take to improve my self-esteem. He has worked in a couple of different companies before and is probably the second most eloquent speaker in our batch. He feels completely at ease on stage which is something that I strive to achieve and also has a wonderfully lackadaisical approach towards what others think about him. This is the second quality that I wish to emulate since it would allow me to be more outgoing in social gatherings.
The second person was actually one of the first people that I encountered when I joined college. She is one of the strongest people I know and has managed to overcome great difficulties with a smile on her face. Her courage is one of the things that I admire most about her along with the fact that she is comfortable talking with anybody and everybody. Finally, her sense of humour is something to admire if a little offensive to some people.
Finally, I would like to talk about someone who showed me that it is very possible to be almost two different people in front of our peers and in private. He is one of the most mature people that I have met and goes out of his way to help his friends. The saying that leaders are born not made seems to hold true for this individual which is something that I admire greatly in him.
IIM Udaipur has helped transform not just my career but my demeanour and perspective with the most influential party being the students. While I have mentioned only three of them, I have been affected by several more.
Which Aditya Birla Group Company I would like to join and why?
I personally have an inclination towards marketing due to which I feel that the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail division would be a good fit for me. I am interested in the advertising aspect as well as the marketing function and the luxury brands like Van Heusen and Loius Phillipe would allow me to exercise both of them.
