A B-school is certainly not anything like what we imagine it to be while appearing for the infamous CAT exam. MDI, being one of the top institutes in the country is no different. Most of us came here looking forward to the ‘b-school life’ that would allow us to develop as individuals while giving us enough time in these two years to follow our passion. However, the first week completely changed our perception about the next two years!
It was 14th of June – The day of MDI shortlist’s registration. Having given up the shortlist reaching my waitlist number, I was out of station with my family. Then suddenly a mail came stating that I had been shortlisted for admission in MDI, Gurgaon and the last date of registration is 14th of June itself! Baffled, I took the earliest train back home and went to the college on 15th itself. I was relieved to find that I could complete the process by 20th and join then. The first time when I explored the campus, I was overwhelmed with joy to have gotten into such a green, beautiful and just perfectly serene place for the upcoming 2 years into my Post-Graduation. So, after arranging the fees, I joined by 18th of June to figure out that I had missed a lot of important things in the Induction period - many tasks whose deadlines had already passed and many sleepless nights that my colleagues had spent in the campus doing them. I was too scared since the buzz around the campus was of supreme fear from seniors. My roommate informed me of the possibility of getting thrashed due to incompletion regardless of my late joining. Thus, I had to shift in with my stuff earlier than planned. A week of hard work and getting all the previously pending as well as the new tasks done, I was finally relieved of all the stress. That was when our seniors threw a fresher’s party for us! The tough induction period was finally over! That seemed like the best feeling ever. Since that day onwards, it has been a pleasure staying at MDI - The conduct, the cleanliness, the greenery, and the most delightful of all – The Mandevians. Having gotten along with the people, I feel the most content having gotten the best classmates & batch mates I could have ever hoped for and I’m really looking forward to cherish my time at MDI.
13th June 2018, with excitement and nervousness, I first stepped inside the campus of MDI. But, the moment I entered, I felt calm breeze. This breeze provided assurance and certainty. It felt homely. Now when I think about the first day, I remember the excitement of the students and nervousness of their parents. Everyone had the same question, 'how the life is going to be?'. With this question our MBA journey began.
When I came to MDI for admission, I had only heard stories about the life in B-school. The one sentence that I keeps hearing was that it would be the best 2 years of my life. You will learn a lot, make awesome friends, have fun, play sports, participate in events etc. My first 10 days here was hard as the induction process was going on. We had back to back classes, corporate talks and multiple tasks. But in the end, it was necessary to refine us so that we may survive in the next 2 years. After the induction ended, the normal class schedule started and while it was not hard, I still thought when will the sports or event part of it will happen. Then the inter-section sports tournament started and it was awesome. The most unique thing about this tournament was that I would be completely organized by the first year students. From preparing match schedule to preparing the ground to officiate the matches etc
MDI is one of the institution at the acme of Management studies in India and the facilities it offers and the intensity of fake shouting of its seniors are commensurate with its status.
They say B-school life stays etched forever. Little did I know the veracity of these words till I finally joined MDI Gurgaon. It’s been only a month since I became a part of this hustle and bustle and I already have a box full of memories to preserve.
Life at MDI is full of deadlines, surprises, cases, studies, clubs & yes most importantly friends. This is how I can say it in a line.
I would like to introduce the “firecracker of the HR batch” at MDI – Aakash Khurana. Just like firecrackers induce life into a party, capture everyone’s attention and provide entertainment to all; Aakash ensures that his energy and his sense of humour lifts up the spirits of those around him.
