Anirudh: This Tamilian boy does indeed stand up to the legendary Tamilian academic brilliance. You would always find him in the front rows of the class. But there is a catch, without his notebook open. He simply remembers everything taught in class, mentally taking notes. You would always find him in the sports field for every event in our recently concluded sports meet. If you think he is very sportive, hold on! He is the chief of the morale booster group--- the cheerleading squad, so much so, that the opponents actually fear him more than the team players. His favourite line being, “saamne wale wide phek phek ke jeeta denge.”

It was a fine sunny morning during the month of February and we were rushing to the class after a fulfilling breakfast. Pouring over the article last night which was aptly titled “Impacting on Society: The Lost Debate within IIMs”, I was wondering what the author who also happens to be my Professor for the course, Dr. Somnath Ghosh was trying to convey when he said IIMs are only focusing on improving the management practices of corporate India while neglecting the management problems of public systems that play a very critical role in development and nation building. With a curious mind, I punched the attendance on the biometric system and waited for him to arrive.
