Typically, the first year in the PGP programme comprises of all core subjects which gives an understanding of all business domains and builds skills. Here in IIM Udaipur, we also learn a subject which focuses on building spreadsheet skills in students. The subject is called Spreadsheet Modelling (SSM) and it’s taught by Prof. V. V. Rao. The reason I miss that subject is because of Prof. Rao and his teaching methodology.
The first day I visited the campus, I had to travel for about 2 hours, passing by the green mountains and stone buildings of Udaipur to reach the amazing place in Balicha where I would be spending my next two years. The campus is surrounded by bushy mountains and steep valleys. The usual perception of an IIM or an IIT would be to have a geeky vibe about it. Contradicting to that, the IIM Udaipur campus has a scenic vibe to it. With the stone brick walls and the favorable climatic conditions, it is an add on to the education life the students have for the two years of MBA course.
IIM Udaipur is situated in a very picturesque and scenic location in hills of Balicha. When you wake up in morning and peek out of the window, it’s a sheer happiness. The campus has been awarded GRIHA’s 5 star LD rating. It is the highest level of rating for large developments. This award is provided for noticeable practices in energy management, waste management and water conservation. The campus has all basic facilities like Academic building, Auditorium, Bloomberg lab, hostels, library, mess, gym, ATM etc. After completion, there will be 5 lakes within the campus. The uniqueness of campus comes from its unique blend of students from different backgrounds in terms of education, work experience, representation of different regions of the country and other abilities.
Indian Institute of Management Indore is not just in the league of top 5 BSchools, it’s a place of budding innovators from the 500+ post graduate student, 120+ IPM students, 50+ fellow students and many other ongoing program students. For me this institute was beyond my imagination, the culture, the welcoming experience and most importantly the campus, the facilities provided here are beyond my dreams. Coming from Gujarat, and being given this opportunity to study here was challenging at first, but when we start learning the ways here, getting to know the people, the professors, life becomes easier. The best part of this institute is its greenery, the institute takes primary care of its garden, the trees and the environment at large. For a person visiting the campus first time will feel like it’s visiting a park, it contains a variety of plants, different types of trees and a beautiful atmosphere. The campus is situated on a hill, so it’s like a layer of building at each level. At night you have the view of entire Indore- it is simply saying spectacular. My campus is unique in a lot of ways, it all depends on the people that makes it unique, that can be our director, our teachers and professors, my batch mates and even the people who work in our facilities like gardeners, the security and everyone involved.
It was 23rd may when I got a mail in my inbox stating “Congratulations!!! You have been offered a provisional admission for Post Graduate Programme in Management at IIM Indore.” That day my happiness knew no bounds. I was on cloud nine cherishing and celebrating the moment with my family and looking forward to the amazing two years at IIM Indore.
