I can still relive the excitement I experienced during my interview at NITIE Mumbai. The interviewer asked me to name the parent company of the suit I was wearing. Starring at the crown broach of my Louis Philippe suit, I confidently replied, Its Aditya Birla Group. After the interview, I glanced at the influence of the brand in my life and was surprised by the role it played in transforming me into a man from a boy.
Aditya Birla Group, one of the oldest conglomerates of our country. Such rich history and values it shared within Indian corporate world. When I talk about this group, first thing that came into my mind is Ultratech cement. One of growing cement brands with largest manufactures of grey cement. From the time when Indian economy opened up to various foreign brands and need for strong infrastructural growth is supported by this brand. I have seen big infrastructural projects, dams and public offices built from it. I have seen face of a city being completely changed via huge concrete buildings and projects. Another brand, Pantaloons retail. Though is served near slightly upper strata of middle class, quality and design of its product is always in among group. Such a huge retail clothing giant was once called ‘Mark and Spenser’ of India. It was Acquired from future group for strategic purposes, completed via leading it into more successful openings into various cities. Another brand that comes is Vodafone Idea limited, before when two brands ‘Vodafone’ and ‘Idea’ were competitors and ready for eat each other profits. That was time when Idea brand had built its name among Indian consumer class. Reliable and cost-effective services is something it is was hugely known for. From telecom to infrastructure, Aditya Birla Group has not only diversified its corporate brands, it has also developed that brands into one of the biggest serving and growing brand of Indian economy.
Why Aditya Birla Group is Big part of my life
Since childhood, I was fascinated by bright colors. I remember the first time I wore a beach t-shirt, bright blue t-shirt with yellow flowers on them, I was on top of the world. I always had a taste in fashion thereafter and wore clothes that catered to my sense of beauty. There in comes in Allen Solly, my go to brand for all sorts of clothing. With it's lineup of bright and beautiful clothes it always fascinated me and I started to love their selections. My first ever pick was a bright blue shirt and a brown cheenos, when I looked into the mirror I was flabbergasted. After that it became a usual thing to go to their showroom and look for the latest additions in their latest collections (even if couldn't afford them). Allen Solly is just one of many brands under the fashion umbrella of ABG and all of them have their own statement. Louis Phillipe came in next, with their classy selection of formal clothing that became my first set of formal clothes when I started working. Louis Philippe has always maintained a sense of tradition in their formal clothing collections . My father always preferred that over the newer options available in the market today which cater to a completely different set of newer generation audience.LP is where tradition meets style.
When I was in my final year of civil engineering at VIT Chennai, I had written CAT without any preparation and to my surprize, I scored 91.29 percentile. As most college applications were closed by then, I could only apply to IMT Ghaziabad and I converted it. Due to this, I didn’t participate in any of the placement activities taking place in the final semester. I had job offers from only 3 IT companies that had visited campus in the pre-final semester. After putting a lot of thought to it, I decided I can do better in CAT if I prepared for it. So I ended up giving up my seat at IMT and I went back to my native to prepare for CAT. After toiling day and night, I scored a meagre 86 percentile that year. In the process, I had also rejected Cognizant’s offer twice. So in January of 2018, I had no job offer and a bad CAT percentile.
