How Aditya Birla Group helped me create stories in my life

I was in my college and in vacations, I used to go home. It is not our house. It was a rental one. We did not have a house till then. We used to get a lot of flak from relatives because of that. And then one fine morning, my father decided to build a house. I was obviously excited. Finally, we were going to get our own house. But it’s the implementation that matters. And that comes with a lot of problems. We did not know how to build one. With a lot of consultation, we got to know about the initial steps. Long story short, we build our house, our home. And it was Ultratech Cement that came to our rescue. Cost effective and most importantly, trustworthy, this brand became truly part of our lives. Now again when I am in college for my MBA, I call my parents and I use Vodafone Idea as a network provider. I get to hear their voices even from a place this far. When I want to indulge in some spending spree realizing that I don’t have much to spend, I go to Pantaloons. I get there what I want. When I used to work, I gifted my father a Shirt with my first Salary. It was not expensive. I had a humble start. I could not afford to buy anything expensive. I went to Pantaloons again. I got a decent Shirt for the price that I paid. When I gifted it to my father, the scene was not dramatic. I won’t lie about that. But he was certainly happy to see his son grew. In all these stories, one name is common and it is part of our lives like that. Aditya Birla Group, more than a name, is a conglomerate we trust for all the good reasons. And that is why it holds a special place in my life.

Be it Planet Fashion, Ultratech Cement, Vodafone Idea Limited, Birla Sunlife Insurance, Pantaloons and a vast array of top clothing brands like Louis Phillipe and Peter England, there's no area where the Aditya Birla group hasn't created value in our lives. There's a proverbial saying 'A company starts to taste real success when its brand becomes bigger than itself.' It's almost surreal how different brands blossomed under this Indian conglomerate and changed so many lives. My life is no exception! Let me give account into some wonderful anecdotes of my experiences with ABG.

My first tryst with Aditya Birla Group

My first memorable interaction with Aditya Birla Group was back when I didn't know about Aditya Birla Group. It was a simple instance. I was in 7th standard and I saw one of my school seniors carrying his own mobile phone. To the best of my memory, it was simple phone. Something like a Nokia 3310. I went back home and asked my parents for my own mobile phone. NO came the answer. I was too young. I sulked and I whined  (I was a very demanding child) and eventually, I got my very own mobile phone. The connection was an Idea connection. I didn't make the choice, I didn't even know what options were available. My parents were using Idea connections and my mom happened to have 2 phone numbers; I got one. This was in 2007. I still have the same phone number 12 years later. For me, this is a very personal thing, as there are very few things that have remained unchanged for 12 years in my life. This experience was followed by many others. Shopping for my first blazer at Van Huesen, for one. I had started working and needed a blazer for an important meeting. I didn't know head or tails of blazer shopping, but I was sure the staff at Van Huesen would be helpful, and they were. A lot of such small yet meaningful experiences have cemented the position of Aditya Birla Group in my life.

Birla is nothing less than a household name for the Indian populace. Aditya Birla group as a legacy is very much a part of our aspirations, ideals and the cultural makeup of India for over a century. So it is a very loaded question to ponder upon when you have to condense a century's worth of history of a rightfully classified corporate apex player in few words. I can just speak to my own experiency with this brand house.
