My journey so far: Overcome challenges one step at a time- Raviraj Lendave, MDI Gurgaon

I was sitting in the Manipal Academy, in Bangalore. The on-boarding training program for Probationary Officers of our bank was about to end and we were supposed to know our first branch. Everyone was nervous. We could get posting in any of the branches all over India. We knew that already, but we're still hoping to get posted to our hometowns. As soon as I received the envelope, I tore it open wishing it to be any city in Maharashtra, my home state, but it turned out to be Raipur.

ABG WOO ME

A wise man once described life as what you truly make it. It is completely upon us to define it and to build what we dream. Such is the beauty of it. Everyone is equal and yet everyone is different. As I child, I set out to define mine. Unaware and untroubled by the challenges down the road, I decided to explore. Two aspects of life were defined: personal and professional. After due diligence, I came upon the decision to pursue MBA and have a career in Marketing. It was a daunting challenge given the competition. Personally, I embarked on a journey to contribute to music and to the society. I was confident, committed and ready to put in a fair day’s work everyday.

I have been a medical enthusiast since I was a child. I wanted to be a doctor but then due to some reasons I couldn’t get into medical college. But I didn’t get lost. I took my failure as a part of life. I let it flow in the way and didn’t get disheartened. I joined engineering college. I could do everything that was thrown in my way but I was not enjoying what I was doing. Then also I came to Bangalore for job hunt and started working as an automation tester for CGI. I got certified by ISTQB then also I wanted to have a change of course. So I went ahead and sat for MBA entrances. It was tough handling job, studies and personal life but I still managed to join NMIMS. Now life is still throwing bouncers at me in form of daily base exams, quizzes, guest lectures, club and committee activities but I am trying to manage it all with even my personal life.

Summer Internship tips and experience (NMIMS, Bengaluru)

Summer Internship tips and experience (NMIMS, Bengaluru)

The summer internship is the first real-time learning experience at MBA where you apply your knowledge and concepts learnt throughout a year. The first thing in an MBA is to not run behind marks, run behind the learning you get out of it. You should get your basic concepts crystal clear as they are the building blocks of further concepts. JAM – not a yummy sweet paste but ‘Just a Minute’ extempore was prepared as groups to improve the communication skills. It provides great confidence to put forth your points during interviews. Perform a SWOT analysis on yourself and try converting weaknesses into strengths where you can create value. Prepare small handouts on the topics and form groups to discuss the topics in which you are not comfortable with. Always remember that ‘The first impression is always the best’. Make sure you get the attention of the interviewers in the first 5 seconds of your interview which will set a base for further discussions. Make sure that you are formally dressed (non-wrinkled shirts, pants especially) with minimal makeup and decent grooming. There should be thorough knowledge about the company, sector, their products/services they offer and recent news if any. Be bold and provide answers crisply if needed with an example.
