Aditya Birla Group - Make life a little better every day | Sreemitra Godi, IIM Ranchi
Brands influence our daily life even if we think they don't. They aid us in little ways which aren't readily noticeable. I remember how I panicked a week before my first interview in my undergraduate during campus placements. All the candidates were informed to appear for the selections in business formals. I had never tried on business formals till then and was a bit skeptical about choosing my attire. My friend came to my rescue and recommended Van Heusen. I was comfortable in my skin throughout the day, and it boosted my confidence. It was then it hit me,

Aditya Birla Group is big in my life! RISHAB DEV GUPTA, XIMB
Ghanshyam Das Birla, born on 10th April 1894 at Pilani, Rajasthan and a Padma Vibhushan awardee for his impeccable business sense, is the founding father of Aditya Birla Group. Elected to Central Legislative Assembly in 1926, he was more an industrialist than a businessman. Today Aditya Birla Group values at $44.3 billion and is also making India proud by featuring in Fortune 500 list. Aditya Birla Group has grown from pieces to a group of successful companies and has made its presence felt among people.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
One of the few inspiring stories I love is the BIRLA AND BUTTER CHICKEN, it was very amusing and a mind opener for me because, even I come from a Marwari family. It is very interesting to serve non-veg in a Marwari office, and it turned out to be a very important factor for employees in India as well as worldwide. I haven’t really been exposed to the real world as of now, but what I hear and see is that with perseverance, passion and commitment anything in this world can be achieved, there is no point in doing anything half-heartedly. I have tried my very best to follow this principle, be it in studies, family relations as well as family business. I have a family business which is into trading and manufacturing of spices and food products. It took me a while to get our products listed on e-commerce websites, since there was a barrier or maybe a mental blockage about selling and payment related issues on e-commerce. The first attempt was a major fail from my end, since I did not have the expertise when it came to the costs and bundling of spice products, and selling them. We were initially selling at a loss, and after few months my family members decided to shut the operations for online selling. Then I initiated social media marketing for my company, in three to four years we got more than thirty thousand followers on social media, we started spending a substantial amount on promotions as we were getting a good response. Slowly we started to realise that it would make more sense to do social media promotions if we had presence on e-commerce platforms, since then we have been working together as a team and have figured out the management and the costs. Now we are selling on three platforms in India and one in USA.

India wasn’t built in a day, it took vision and perseverance to execute that vision, it took ingenuity and just plain hard work. But who built it? A few names come to mind, and Aditya Birla Group is one of them. Starting 90 years before we achieved freedom, Aditya Birla Group has and continues to contribute to the present and future of India and Indians.
