Life till 25……& to be continued….

Life till 25……& to be continued….

One of the earliest childhood memories that I have is going to the local movie theatre to watch the movie “Border”. I think I was 3 or maybe 4 years old and I distinctly remember being fascinated by the men in uniform, their tanks, and rifles. Being a small boy, that was enough to hold my attention.

My Journey to B School - TAPMI

My Journey to B School - TAPMI

Pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Management is my dream. I believe that having some prior industry knowledge and experience would help in a much better comprehension. I joined in an IT firm where I used to work in irregular shifts because of the requirement. Due to this, I was unable to cope up with my CAT preparation for which I planned to join in a coaching center. But it was not possible, hence I myself managed to plan my preparatory schedule according to my shift. It was very difficult to manage both but my self motivation helped me keep going. I used to reduce my sleep span to manage my mocks and also for its analysis. A lot of hardship went into for all of that. I used to score low in the initial mocks, but later I picked up pretty well because of proper self analysis after each mock and the graph kept on rising. Finally I gave my CAT and it was my first attempt. I felt I have done good. I scored a good percentile and my preparatory cycle began again for the Group Discussion and Interview Process. It was not easy to handle my job and my preparation both in such hectic schedule. Hard work paid off and I was selected for 3 B schools of which I chose one of the best 20 colleges in India, T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal. That’s how the journey of my dream of entering into a B school went.

The road not taken – TAPMI

The road not taken – TAPMI

What better joy in life than seeing your parents proud of where you are in life? I’ve been fortunate to experience moments like these be it when I scored well in the exams that mattered or got my first job offer with India largest conglomerate or when I read out the admission letter to a prestigious B-School. Though they may seem trivial, it wasn’t for my parents who didn’t have the opportunities in their lives to do this.

Brands. They are everywhere aren't they. Some affect our lives deeply. Others not so much. It still is somewhat of a gospel truth of the century that you can't escape them. They are prevalent your personal, professional and social lives. Millennials and the generations that follow have never known a world without them. Many such brand were a big part of my life too growing up and more so as I made my way into adulthood.

ABGLP Woo Me Competition, Part B : How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions so far.

Everyone is unique. Everyone sees life differently. But one thing in life is always common : struggles. Success is a very relative word and in most of the cases, it can only be achieved after going through a lot of hardships and doing a lot of hardwork. Mine is no different. My journey of disappointment started when I landed a job in an IT firm. Being from a very different background, it was hard for me to cope up with the fast and volatile business environment. I used to crib every single day during my training period. I couldn't keep up with my class and concepts seemed to look like Mandarin. But then, that didn't stop me from not trying. I used to devote extra time to just learning the basics. Now this wasn't usual because I wasn't a very sincere person but also never felt so low. This pushed me and day by day, I was learning more and more. I couldn't excel in the exams but atleast I succeeded. Similarly, my journey to the prestigious college of TAPMI was a long one with full of rejections and failures in exams and GD/PI. But I was resilient like most of you readers and never ever backed out. I know this is not an unusual story but like I said, success is relative and I am very happy to do what I am doing right now. Challenges will always be around. But that won't stop me from trying.
