Dream: Leap of Trust - Sayani Mukherjee, TAPMI

Dream: Leap of Trust - Sayani Mukherjee, TAPMI

Every industry and people face challenges at some point on the journey in their own way. It is upon them, whether they surrender to the situation or stand against all odds and reach the finish line as a conquerer. It was just few days into the organization as a newbee with just a year of experience into the corporate world, when my mentor and guide passed  on a lead worth ₹ 4.5 CR . The order value coupled with the fact that this was an out of fold client , captured the attention of the higher management. Everybody was sceptical about such a big order whether it would be materialised or not. The initial challenge was to pave my way through internal bias which comes as a plus one from the experienced and old timers. There I saw a ray of hope and thought why I shouldn't grab this opportunity and win this for my company. For someone who was inexperienced in this domain, there was paramount pressure both external and self created as it was highly important for me to prove to myself that I have what it takes to effectively grab this order, so that I can establish myself as someone who is good at this job and will grow both as an individual and as an employee while working in the industry. Another challenge was that the client I was pitching to was leaning towards a fellow competitor, but my in-depth technical comparisons, commercial viability and the perseverance to pursue it for over a year is what made my company finally win this order, The process began in January 2017 and concluded February 2018. I could not have been more happy and satisfied with my experience as it taught me how to have faith in my abilities and the importance of perseverance and unwavering focus in life.

The quote “no experience is a bad experience” has deep implications in everyone’s life. The challenges in our life help us evolve as a better person. It helps us to maintain our composure during difficult times and make the right decision. During 10th class, I had injury in my right eye while playing cricket. The vision was reduced to 50% due to disturbance in retina and laser surgery has to be done to improve the vision. It was very difficult to prepare for the exams with complete vision in only left eye. But with determined efforts, I got very good score in Board exams. The surgery was done and vision was restored to 90%.

A six year old kid was visiting his village in the summer break 20 years ago. But the idea of meeting his cousins or grandparents was not exciting him. He was pretty much reluctant to spend more than a day there. Looking back at that time I wonder what made the difference. Now when that lad visit his village he is quite excited to experience something different from that mundane urban life.
