A total of 257 out of 269 students took part in the process. Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak celebrated India’s 73rd Republic Day with full fervor on campus in the presence of students, faculty, and staff. The day was celebrated with a zeal-and-spirit throughout the length and breadth of the institute. The Institute buildings were tastefully decorated with bunting pictures of heroes of freedom moments, and the national flag. It was a sight to behold the tricolors fluttering proudly on the institute building. Director IIM Rohtak, Prof. Dheeraj Sharma hoisted the national flag. As the flag unfurled and fluttered, the national anthem played and a sense of pride washed over everyone. This was followed by an address by Prof. Sharma. He mentioned that our nation has given a knowledge system and a way of life that is cherished by the world today. He said, “These are very important dimensions which are now being challenged in recent times. Therefore, we must reflect on our fundamental duties. Our fundamental duty is that we must uphold the sovereignty of our nation and value our rich heritage. We must take pride in who we are, whatever religion we may follow; we have a common social identity that binds us together. We are Indian that binds is together” He further reminded us of the traditional beliefs of India that we can bring back in our everyday life for example that the food that we are having is medicinal in its property. He urged students to bring Millet consumption to the forefront. He added, “Ours is a great nation, with 1.4 billion people. Today, we must celebrate achieving 150 crore doses of vaccination in our country where a lot of other nations are still struggling on this front. However, our long-term focus should be to build immunity through Traditional Indian Diet and Yoga.” The crowd took the oath to remember the golden heritage of our country and feel proud to be a part of such a Republic Nation.
Credence Capital, the investment club of IIM Lucknow, hosted the institute's annual investment summit, Nivesh 2022 from 14th to 16th January. The three-day event began with a knowledge sharing session among the students.
The second day saw two insightful sessions, in partnership with the CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) Association. In the morning, CAIA's Managing Director Joanne Murphy and Associate Director Shreekant Daga, enlightened the attendees on the Indian and well as global private equity landscape, while the evening witnessed an enriching session by CAIA's FDP Programme Director and Managing Director Keith Black, on modelling with traditional and alternative data.
The finale of Investowise, Credence Capital's national-level stock pitch competition was also held on the 15th. The event saw the participation of skilled participants from the country's top business schools.
SCMHRD has successfully completed its Summer Internship Recruitment Programme for 2021. There were more than 70 recruiters who came on campus to offer roles for the MBA Core batch. Some prominent recruiters were Flipkart, ITC, Accenture, Godrej, Tata Consumer Products, Hindustan Unilever, etc. This year, the average stipend of the MBA Core batch stood at 1.9 L. The highest stipend offered to any student was 3.20 L. The top 10% of the batch was offered an average stipend of 3.02 L. The top 25% of the batch received an average stipend of 2.52 L. IIM Shillong has secured 13th place in the Business Today's B-School Ranking, moving three places upwards compared to the last year. The Institute has also taken a significant leap in the NIRF ranking moving up by seven places. IIM Shillong was also one of the only three institutes in the Vaishwik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Summit organized by the Government of India. The Institution's growth can be attributed to several factors, including its outstanding academic performance, stellar placement records, and widening collaborations with other organizations.
Indian Institute of Management Rohtak hosted the 7th Biennial conference of the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM) from January 7 – 9, 2022. INDAM is among the most prominent management conferences in India. The conference was themed around the triple bottom line (TBL) that focuses on People and Planet in addition to Profits. The conference offered an exciting opportunity for professionals, academicians, policymakers, and thought leaders to share their contributions in various disciplines of management, preview current research, and grow professional networks. It had the participation of over 1000 delegates from across the world. The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Former Chief Justice of India and Member of Parliament. Mr. Gogoi in his keynote address said, “The ongoing Pandemic has impacted the 3 Ps- People, Planet and Profit. Mankind is passing through its most challenging moments, coming from different quarters such as melting glaciers, rise in sea level, dwindling forest area, forest changes, air pollution, and enormous health hazards. I would like to highlight that this is a problem more serious than the problems created by the ongoing Pandemic. I think there is an answer to these problems faced by the 3 Ps that can be found in the constitution.” He further added, “These provisions of the constitution are in chapter 4 which deals with directive principles. They are not enforceable in court but are supposed to be the guiding principles of state action. Perhaps what we need today is the constitutional debate as to how many of these guidelines are yardsticks to measure the welfare of a state.”
I still remember the day when I checked my inbox to find the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, IIT Jodhpur's offer letter, and the feeling of joy which I had felt at that very moment. The excitement of being a part of SME's first-ever batch and the opportunity to pursue a dual degree at GWU made me choose SME, IIT Jodhpur, over other B-schools. Even though my peers and colleagues suggested I go for established and reputed B-schools over SME IITJ, but I had already made up my mind. I was confident about my decision, and after completing two semesters at SME, IITJ, and a semester here at GWU, Washington DC, I am glad that I went ahead with my decision.
It was late February of 2020, and I was flipping through the pages of a newspaper one morning when I came across a new MBA program launched by IIT Jodhpur. As I read more, I realized that this was not just any regular MBA program but one that offered students the opportunity to major in technology and the core functional specializations like marketing, finance, operations, strategy, and HR. Not only that, for students who wished for some international exposure, the program offered them the opportunity to pursue a dual degree with one year of education at IIT Jodhpur and the second year at the partner universities. All these factors motivated me to apply for the program.
