IIM Indore is located at the heart of India. Even in Indore, it proudly sits at the top of Prabandh Shikhar at the outskirts of the city. The morning starts with the sound of birds chirping around in the greenery of the campus. You get fresh air free from noise and pollution along with people similar to you yet from diverse backgrounds. Among this fresh air is peace and quiet wherein people work on developing their managerial skills.
Indore is strived as the cleanest city in India for a couple of years now and speaking of India, education dream for us drowns down to IIT’s and IIM’s for any typical Indian. IIM’s are stereotypically known for its round-the-clock classes, all night assignments, placements, and networking (still figuring out what this means). But what isn’t known to everyone is that MBA is more than that. At least MBA in IIM Indore is much more than that. There is a saying like, you don’t know the worth of what have until you lose it. Boy, I was too late to understand it. That moment when you step inside the campus after your summer internship makes you feel how good of a place is this and what I’ve been missing. The campus is a hill in the middle and surrounded by trees all around. Hostels at the foot of the hill and Acad block at the top, the rainy season with nonstop rainy and shivering winter and sweat taking summer season, you will have everything. But let stop for a moment, IIM Indore is more than these Tangible things. It is the people from the students, professors, the mess wala, daily workers to the pani puri wala who makes this campus beautiful. People put in their 100% on what they want. You must witness the students enthusiasm in Iris (Cultural fest) to i5 Summit (Entrepreneurship festival). The campus never sleeps, literally, there will always be something happening in the campus. From case competitions, club activities, all sorts of sports competitions, fests, industrial talk, company presentations, the campus will be occupied. The people around you, their thought process, will make you realize there will always be another side to every story. To summarize the whole thing, you will have freedom, and you will find out what you want, you will realize everyone has different priorities, success is different for everyone, and You will be sure that you are the very different, matured and rational person than you were when you entered the campus.
As I sit here sipping coffee in my cosy hostel room, I see the 1st year students going around the hostel trying to settle in their new rooms, getting to know each other and wondering what the following 2 years hold for them. This got me thinking about when I first arrived at the beautiful campus of IIM Indore a year ago, nervous yet excited. It was my first time living away from home and having to live all by myself was something couldn’t imagine. But then I met my crazy set of friends! How do I introduce them? There’s so much to tell, I can barely decide from where I should start from. Doing assignments together, pulling each other’s legs, sharing an aloo paratha at night mess around 3am and then running late to those early morning lectures almost every day, now turned from a set of friends to a family.
IIM Indore is a whole new world altogether. The campus is in the outskirts of the city and situated at a hilly region. It’s the largest campus as compared to the other IIMs or top B-schools with the infrastructure being at par with world class institutions.
SIBM Pune, without a doubt, comes with the most picturesque campus imaginable. The mountains call you, the wind rushes through your hair and the valleys carry your laughter from the hilltop to the base. But all this wouldn’t be half as thrilling without this bunch of idiots who have turned into my family in the last 30 days. Introducing my home, away from home!
