The IIM Udaipur’s campus is claimed to be one of the best campuses of all the Indian Education Institutes. Located outside the city, the campus is spread across 353 acres of land. The campus has an awesome view, grandeur greenery, splendid construction design, and innovative architecture.
The most unique thing about my campus, in my opinion, are the people here. Armed with a plethora of unique experiences and knowledge, the learning experience is entirely peer driven. My batch consists of engineers, economists, commerce graduates & Chartered Accountants, IPMers (Dual Degree), and even doctors and dentists. The variety of experiences you gain is overwhelming at first. You join the campus with pre-conceived notions about every other domain. When you talk to seniors about MBA, the first thing you heard is networking. Everyone says that networking skills are most important for a successful career. And guess what, you got all those opportunities on the campus itself. You have undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and executive students in the same habitat learning and gaining new experiences every day. There is a course for the Indian Army and I remember once I got to interact with one of the soldiers. He told about his experiences and I learned many lessons that day. I guess all these experiences are very important for professional as well as in personal life. All these experiences have helped me in my holistic development as an individual.
Human beings are a social breed and generally, tend to flock together in groups. The classroom is no exception to this generally accepted phenomenon. Groupism can be detrimental to the overall development that a student has to achieve during his learning process. Many a time, like-minded peers who are usually from the same community can be seen ganging up together. This was my perception until my first day at SDA Bocconi Asia Center.
MBA is not just a Masters degree tag that your name carries. For me, it is a privilege that shapes a person into a well-taught leader. The case studies in the courses at IIMU are chosen with the utmost care, which helps us to relate to real-life scenarios. The culture and teaching practices at IIMU helped me to understand and evaluate the what, why and how of the practices that lead products/services/businesses to success.
On the onset of Summer 2013, it was my final year of engineering; I decided to pursue a course at XIMB, “Basic Managerial Skills For Potential Entrepreneurs”. It was not just a summer course but a life-changing experience. This exposure to a world-class institution, equally capable faculties, shaped my understanding of life and its intricacies completely. Then, after a substantial three and a half years of corporate work experience and little experience in start-ups, I got the opportunity to continue my regular Masters here. Had it not been that summer course, I would not have started my entrepreneurial journey and could have missed the thrill of being an entrepreneur.
It doesn’t matter how far you are from your home because you will not miss your home once you are at IIM Indore. And that’s the beauty of this campus. The campus never lets you feel alone. Situated at Prabandh Shikhar, few km before Indore, the campus is away from the noise and pollution of the city. One does not need to set the alarm to wake up in the morning here as with the birds chirping around and the advent of sunlight from the window - your typical day starts at IIM Indore.
