Ethics Class Of Individual And Group Dynamics - IIM Udaipur

The word ethics brings along with it lots of dilemmas and arguments. The epic Kurukshetra war was a war to protect ethics. All the holy books around the world talk about how one can live a life with highest ethics. So when there is an ethics class in a B-School, 60 students with varied personality and upbringing would surely have various definitions of ethics. And a memorable classroom experience happens when the faculty lets the emotions flow without challenging any views. So in Section C of IIM Udaipur, Batch of 2017-19 was discussing the concept of ethics and also to the extent one should remain ethical in the shrewd world of business. The class started with everyone agreeing that ethics are important while doing business but we were not able to define what can be termed ethical while what cannot be. In business, we say that cases and examples are the best way to understand concepts. So we started discussing concepts of ethical dilemmas. During class, I could relate to a framework of Devdutt Pattnaik, a famous mythology writer in India which is as follows:

The Castle On The Hill - IIM Indore

Anyone who has studied in a b-school will vouch for the fact that life at a business school is a roller coaster ride. Every business school has their own traditions and USPs. And I, like any other resident of Planet-I, fell in love with it as soon as I stepped in. The unique thing about IIM Indore is its location. Popularly known as the “Castle on the hill”, one can get the feel of a hill station driving down its roads, and the long walks along these beautiful roads and green campus makes it unique for me. The first year of PGP course in IIM Indore is General Management, wherein the participants are divided into sections and taught a bit about all the domains. These sections become your family for the year to come and beyond as well. My most memorable classroom experience happened during the first month at IIMI. When, during section wars, our section went crazy and danced on the benches to win the competition. The section wars not only gave us a chance to know each other, but also to go crazy and use the classroom not just for lectures, but to vent out our crazy side as well.

'I Was A Caterpillar, But Not Anymore' - Planet I Musings

The cab stops at the grand gates of IIM Indore, and a family steps out of it with a sparkling gleam and dream in their eyes. What struck first was the ethereal beauty of the campus, followed by the vibrant crowd of my would-be batch mates looking inviting enough. The separation of a fresher young girl from her home was painful for the initial few days but then started the classes! We running hither thither doing all the pre-processes, attending all the meetings, filling up all the forms, along with all those hectic classes, assignments, quizzes. And soon it felt like even though the home is still far away, the family is not. Class Participation was the newest thing that was waiting for us in the classrooms. It was fun reading up in the advance and trying for that one instance when the teacher will look at us and select us to open our mouth and contribute to the class. Sometimes it was about the CP marks, sometimes to just show off and rarely to actually contribute. One of the most unique aspects of my college will but be its neo-architectural design and the geographical advantage of being located on a beautiful hillock and the pleasant, pleasant weather most of times. Another thing that makes it stand out is the budding young talent that is the IPM students of my college. It is a 5-year Integrated Program in Management where the students do their under graduation in Management and then join the PGP participants in their last 2 years of course. I was lucky to have met some really brilliant people from IPM. Then happened the sports meet of the section wars. What fun it was! All the students of different sections competing with each other in all sports as varied as tug of war to basketball. It brought people within a section closer and ignited sports spirit among people. Another unique thing is the marketing annual fest of my college wherein we are given disguised marketing projects by various company sponsors and we complete surveys for them for their various business problems. There are a lot of other fests and competitions, live projects etc. happening here round the clock. So, in conclusion, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that finally, my new home has transformed me completely into a beautiful butterfly.
