There isn’t a single kid who grew up in the 21st century and was not mesmerised by the huge logo of the man holding a building in his arm. That was the logo of Ambuja Cement. Every kid, every man, every person in India, irrespective of a rural or urban background had seen that logo. See, they took something very simple and put it up on every building across the country. Everyone was bound to ask for the cement whose logo was the man holding the building.
Struggle is a part of life and no success story is a story unless it involves struggles. My story has been no different. I was born and brought up in a small town named Haldwani in Uttarakhand. Since childhood I was always interested in playing all sort of outdoor sports. I was really competitive and highly enthusiastic when it came to sports competitions and sports events. Then came a speed breaker which slowed me down completely. I got diagnosed with a rare Muscle disease because of which I was on complete bed rest. The period was as long as 4 months which was very uncomfortable for a person with a mind-set like mine. I was disheartened with this and all sort of thoughts crossed my mind and I had to pass through this stream of negativity everyday. Yet I believed. I knew that this was not the end of life, and it was very soon to give up. I followed a strict diet, spent time in meditation and Yoga. Books became my best friends and I started observing things more, learning about people and to internalise wisdom. I took medications seriously and got cured completely. I had to work hard to get back on my track. I started walking, jogging and running as low as a minute a day to 5 Kms in 1 go. I built my stamina and gradually took my place in the School football team again. I knew that consistency is the key and I should never give up and I think this belief pushed me through the hard times and these experiences and struggles made me a stronger person that I am today.
Aditya Birla Group is an Indian based multinational conglomerate which has spread its domain in all walks of life. ABG’s strength lies in the diversity of its people, their thoughts and their experiences. ABG’s success in the market can be attributed to their five core values which are Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed.
There are a few brands who leave multiple touch points with its consumers around the clock in all the places across all the mediums. Aditya Birla Group is surely one of them. Right now I am sitting inside a home whose bricks are bonded by UltraTech Cement wearing a T-Shirt which my father gifted me on my 21st birthday which was from Pantaloon Shop, Garihat using my Idea Data. ABG, for me, stands as a symbol of trust, quality. Belonging from a middle-class family we have always been picky about the quality of product and service which can be enjoyed at a reasonable price. ABG products and services have provided us with a one-stop solution. I still remember when my mother asked me for the first time to get groceries and I had no clue about the price and quality of products, absolutely zero ideas about which brand to choose, what size can serve 3 heads for a month. I went to my nearest MORE store. I look baffled as I don't know what to pick up. An assistant gently came to me and I guess he kind of knew that this teenager is here for the first time to purchase something. Since then MORE has become a one-stop solution for me for groceries. When I got my first job, I gave more priorities to clearing my Amazon checklists than saving my money wisely for future needs. As a result of that, I had to undergo an acute financial crisis. A friend of mine suggested me of Aditya Birla Financial Service. "What an Idea Sirji!". Since then my trust in the Aditya Birla Group has strengthened more than what it was before and it will always remain an integral part of my life.
Aditya Birla Group is one of India’s largest conglomerates which was founded around one and a half century ago which operates in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees worldwide. This diverse multinational group has profitably ventured in telecom, financial services, metals, cement, chemicals, fertilizers, online retail, etc.; It has a significant presence in our lives since our childhood. The launch of cellular network Idea had changed the face of the telecom industry of our country as it was positioned to be the ‘Most Dependable’ network providing network connectivity in most parts of our country. My first sim card was of Idea and I am using the same till date. As a young adult, studying in a college which was around 10 km far from my home and located in the outskirts of the city, my parents bought me a mobile and I choose to use IDEA’s sim card, as it was positioned to be the ‘Most Dependable’ network, which also gave my parents a sense of relief that their child is safe. When it comes to clothing, Aditya Birla Group has a firm hold on the sector and I remember eyeing the big stores of brands like Peter England, Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, and Van Heusen, and imagining myself walking around the office, conducting meeting as a Boss, taking important decisions wearing the classy outfits in an MNC. ABG, not just owns independent clothing brands but also owns huge Brand called Pantaloons which is considered as one of the best outlet, when it comes to multi-brand fashion retail chain where we get quality without burning a hole in our pocket. My parents had a dream to build their own house but choosing on cement which is the primary safety criteria of all builders and architects, my father choose UltraTech Cement – Engineer’s first choice.
Growing up in a middle-class family in India has always got its perks as well as its cons. Parents push you to be ambitious when it comes to studies while to be conservative when it comes to thinking out of the box. I was also brought up in such an environment where studies and high marks always came first while ambitions of being an entrepreneur always took a back seat. But, we cannot blame our parents for this, since they were brought up in a socio-economic and cultural scenario which are worlds apart from what our generation can think or understand.
I don’t believe in the phrase “you get only one chance”. It’s all in our mind and depends on how we take any opportunity. Since we all grew up learning that the first impression is the last impression, even research has proved this, we feel under pressure and stressed in an interview or a meeting or on any place which matters. But I believe this is an old school thought. We have ample of opportunities in this modern world and everyone gets another chance to improve if they try searching it. Suppose, if I messed up the first day of meetings with the client, it’s always that I can work hard and improve to change others’ perception towards me. And, I think the one who doesn’t want to appreciate my improvement over time, knowing my efforts, is obviously a biased person and they need to change their thoughts. It may also happen that these people actually lose a good candidate due to their early judgement.
