The CAT Challenge - TAPMI

The CAT Challenge - TAPMI

My parents have always tried to solve all the problems for me and this made me very comfortable with the thought that someone else is always going to be there to solve my problems. But just before the entrance exam for MBA (CAT), I realised that the life is not going to be the same for me from now on. Gone are the days of being spoon-fed with all the facilities and comforts. It is time to take up the challenge of MBA and prove myself in my own eyes.As soon as I started preparing this exam, I knew that Quantitative aptitude section is going to be a major problem for me. So, I laid out a well formulated plan for studies in that particular subject. I started devoting maximum time of my day on that subject and tried to solve a bulk of variety of questions everyday. With time, I witnessed myself getting better at it day by day and getting a hold of the concepts involved in it. Just before a month of the D-Day, I was confident about myself in all the sections. In the last month, I focused on giving mock tests and revising the concepts daily. My performance report showed that i was performing 80% better than my performance in the beginning. This is how I overcame a big challenge of MBA entrance exam (CAT) in my life and all it took was a little motivation and a lot of dedication.-TAPMI

The Fight Within - TAPMI

The Fight Within - TAPMI

I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul, these words by William Henley very closely define my philosophy in life that is to take charge. The amazing concept of “Locus of Control” taught in the 1st trimester in our MBA was an amazing learning that helped me understand myself and the people around. It simply states that, whom people blame for their failure. With those having external locus of control, blame others but my type having an internal locus believes that we are in control and take acceptance of our failures.

Change is the only constant. Learn to embrace it.- TAPMI

Change is the only constant. Learn to embrace it.- TAPMI

Imagine being at home, with your parents pampering you and trying to fulfill all your wishes. Now imagine the times when you got upset at them over issues that seem petty at present.Life seemed difficult then but now, most of us yearn to get those days back. I used to be a person who would never talk to someone unless they spoke to me first because I, simply, thought they wouldn’t like it. The first time when I was stepping out of my home after completing my engineering, I just felt I wouldn’t be able to make it. Being from Madhya Pradesh it was difficult for me to think about going to Kerala for my TCS training. It made my stomach churn to imagine not being able to make good friends. I knew I wouldn’t be able to initiate conversations which can make people find me rude. My parents always pushed me to talk to the children of their colleagues during office parties but in vain.

Why Aditya Birla Group is Big in my life? - TAPMI

There is hardly any means through which Aditya Birla Group (ABG) has not impacted our lives. From the houses we live in, the roads we travel by, the vehicles we use, the clothes we wear to the network which connects us to our loved ones, etc., ABG has been playing a crucial role in our day- to- day lives from the past 162 years. For me personally, the brands Allen Solly and Pantaloons have been special. The classic apparels which the brand Allen Solly possess and the quality of material which they offer are incomparable. Pantaloons on the other hand, is a well- known store which I swear by for my regular shopping. There are many sectors through which ABG is impacting our lives daily. Financial services, IT, Telecom, viscose staple fiber, metals, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, BPO, etc., name any field and the group has its presence all over. When I hear the brand name Aditya Birla, it resonates nothing but trust. There is a reason why this brand is so huge and has been successfully running for these many years. The products it manufactures or the services it offers has been always top notch and has hardly given me a chance to complain. So while choosing any products or services, if I get to know that it is from the Aditya Birla Group I blindly go for it. Such is the trust it has built for itself. ABG gives us an assurance that the money we invest in its products or services does not go vain. That is also the reason it has expanded in 6 different continents, 35 different countries and has a diverse and loyal workforce.

Vendor Quality at TATA Motors- An ethical dilemma-TAPMI

Vendor Quality at TATA Motors- An ethical dilemma-TAPMI

My first exposure to corporate world was in Tata Motors company. I was recruited as a quality assurance engineer in the New Product Development department of the company and my major responsibility was to ensure the quality of the parts delivered by the vendors of Tata Motors. One of my job responsibilities included visiting the vendor’s manufacturing facility in order to verify the manufacturing quality of any part sent to Tata Motors. This verification process was carried out by member of 2 departments of Tata motors, one being the quality department and other the vendor quality department. Upon my visit to one the vendors of Tata Motors, I identified few processes which required iteration as it would lead to defective product delivery and hence declined to sign the approval certificate until the corrections are made. The approval certificate once signed gives the vendor a right to mass produce the parts and supply to the company. However, my colleague from vendor quality advised me to sign the document and assured me that he will ensure the corrections are made in due course of time. Being my senior I was in a pressure situation as my senior member was adamant on signing the document so that the work can be completed and no more visits will be required to the vendor. But, I found it unethical to give a go ahead to the vendor with issues in the manufacturing line as it would eventually lead to a more critical issue in the future and the vendor will not act promptly to improve its process line once final approval is given, hence I did not sign the document and convinced the senior member to postponed the process citing critical issues. Eventually, the vendor responded with the recommended changes within a week and the approval document was then signed by us.
