It’s been more than a year since I joined IIM Kashipur. The drive from Delhi to Kashipur is still very much intact in my memory. The wait and earnest longingness to be in the place, which is going to be your abode for the next two years can really make one impatient. It was no different for me. Situated in the midst of nature, engulfed by greenery is IIM Kashipur.
When it comes to describing ones b-school campus, it’s always a unique one and so is mine - IIM Indore. Situated in the central part of India, atop a scenic hillock, away from noise and pollution of the city, a beautiful lush green campus and a world-class infrastructure ranging from state of art sports complex, residential, hostels, friendly paths for physically disabled, latest teaching aids, etc. IIM Indore campus has a booming diversity of students from different parts of the country belonging to the varied culture, academic background, industry experience, etc. With backgrounds ranging from Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Medical, Law, Literature, Economics, work experience, etc., we explore wider perspectives and exposure to new thoughts during classroom discussion which adds to the immense overall learning experience. Not only are the students a cynosure but also are the faculties. IIM Indore has around 90 full-time faculties with considerable industry experience. Out of which 25 have already been deputed at Harvard Business School for Participant-Centred Learning Programme.
Every classroom here has a story to tell. The red brick walls, the semi-circled windows, the smoothly finished desks, have all, over the years, captured even the tiniest emotion of every student. The mix of joy and apprehension when the batch enters for the first time, the faces that radiate focus, deep conversations with classmates, curiosity, debates, lighter moments, games during breaks, anxiety during exams and that final mix of emotions again as you sign out of your last class of the MBA journey.
From Kolkata to Bhubaneshwar my travel had mixed reactions, I had missed my opportunity of converting calls from IIM Lucknow and MDI Gurgaon. On the other hand, XIMB was a place which was renowned for its Alumni Network and Campus life. Though I was still getting over the depressing feeling of failing to convert IIM Lucknow and MDI Gurgaon, the thought of a new campus life at XIMB mesmerized me.
IIM Kashipur, The IIM in the north or the cubs of Corbett, we are known by many such names. While entering into the walls of the campus, everyone has near about the same thoughts. The mind is generating thoughts like I will study hard, I will acquire a lot of skills which would be there with me for the rest of my life, I will get selected in my dream company and will earn a lot.
Our institute, IIM Kashipur is located in one of the most densely industrialized regions in the country with over 180 industries having plants in and around the region and many more coming up. This places the institute at a vantage point when it comes to ‘Learning by Doing’ via frequent industry interactions and live projects.
